how do you label your white labels?

Post by lowpass » Fri Jan 15, 2010 11:38 am

I ask because I'm really weird about having my collection neat & properly organized and when I take a sharpie to a white label it looks like a 3 year olds written on it :(

I've seen some people have little stickers on it that they've done themselves and I'm wondering what the alternative is to practicing my hand writing?

what do you use to mark your whites?

I use to do graff so I just get my marker out :)

White labels are a dime a dozen.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

Gotta admit, Im a "sharpy straight onto the label" man........

My mate has this totally weird coloured dot system. It blows. And his labels look very gay.

You could use one of those label printers from Staples if your handwriting is too messy.

I go on ebay to SOUNDSWHOLESALE and buy white 12" masterbags
Then I stick my w/labels in a sleeve and write the name on that - keeps it neat and the tunes last longer

Bad handwriting makes the tune sound better. FACT.

Marker pen straight on the labels. Think I mispelt one, and mislabelled another though.

I just stick random stickers I have lieing about on them. 99.9% of the time the stickers have nothing to do with music. Over time you learn to recognise that sticker as that tune. I put them on the sleeve though, not the actual vinyl.

This reminds me of my REcord Shop days when RAVE was king ... I used to get a box of 50 12"s - all of them white labels with no supporting info on them O_O

Used to take ages to read the scratched catalogue numbers in the run out groove to work out what the fuck the tune was ....

Then I had the fun of describing the music .... eg "This is the one that goes Der der der dA! Der da da Da dad DADA! you know hands up and all that"

(That was a description of sound corp btw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AxoqxhwmY8 ) :i:

I like to take colored markers and run slow straight lines from the center hole -> out while the record plays so it draws spirals around the label

then I just kinda remember whats what

I order most of my records online from chemical their sticker is quite nice :D

I tend to not mark them at all though, but if I did I'd just write a little something on corner of the sleeve.

Arrow from center to start cue, name of tune on the line, catalogue on the sleeve. Thats what my boy uses, and since I dont actually deal wit vinyl unless Im on his grounds, Im sure thatll end up being my system...

Basically, as long as you manage to make them visibly distinguishable, your mind will start to relate themto the songs naturally.

White labels are a dime a dozen.
Sometimes I do the deep medi thing with little illustrations.
