T!nman - "The Final Boss"

props:
+good job naming this one! i like the vibe and the 8-bit kinda feel
+those synths are tasty!!! gotta love it, sounds like my DMG gameboy on steroids
+you switch it up and keep it going with some nice variation in sound
+strapped on my megaman helmet by the end of this one

advice:
-its always risky to bring the high end drums in after the drop... leaves your drop a little dry.
-that being said, i really think the hats that do come in (@2:56) are the ones you need to keep, just with maybe a little EQ and some variation on the 1/16th steady drive, and brought in earlier
-your variation is based solely on sound transformation, which can leave your melody sounding rinsed by the end of the track... fine when its in a game and your more concerned with dodging lasers than listening to the track, but as a song alone i'd love to hear some clever note progressions straying from the main riff, your arpeggiations are great tho

overall:
=love the combo of retro 8bit feel with the newschool electro vibe! well done overall, with more variation i wouldnt mind listening to this one over and over when trying to beat that impossibly tough android on Zonklar9 that just launches electric nets at you that pretty much cover the whole screen... seriously how the hell is that even fair?!?! DAMNIT *throws controller*

...sorry. haha good job man

Tripwire (TRPWR) - "Allison"

i understand this is a WIP, but i'll tackle it anyway

props:
+that intro is gorgeous! sounds a bit like my man JeanMichelJarre, but his evil twin or something because of the Major/minor tonality haha
+melody line @0:27 is brilliant, had me shaking my head in a "god, thats beautiful" kinda way
+synth fits the song so well, like a robot bursting into tears because that beauty line @0:27 made him think of how his cyborg girlfriend cheated on him with his human best friend.... no im not talking about me.. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!
+when the melody line came back in with the breakbeat under it (2:45)... came dangerously close to making me tear up a little...

advice:
-Tamb samples are a little overwhelming in the mix before the clicks come in @0:13, maybe should be brought down a bit or the ambience brought up
-not sure how i felt about the automation in the main drop (0:55)... but after i thought about it as the robot bursting into tears personification of the song, i kinda love the chaoticness of it, but others may not agree with me so be wary of that..
-(2:45) when the melody comes in with the breakbeat... seems to come in a little late making the breakbeat feel dry for a short second.. i definitely think the breakbeat should be introduced before the melody comes back in, but i was scraping my head in anticipation (which may be a good thing if you like making people beg for your drops haha)
-since this a WIP, this comment is a little null, but needs a little filling out, esp during the breakdowns.. my suggestions would be: a soft string sample with lots of reverb layered in, a (preferably female) vocal sample talking about something intense, a nice blip gate to help the drums out, a feathery sweep before each mark where the snare would hit (i could go on and on, this is usually why i stay away from WIPs  !)

overall:
=you put your soul into this one so far, i can tell. i listened to it quite a few times, truly proving that a melody line and a good drop are the best ways to hook a listener... just brilliant work on that melody. enTRANCing, to the max.. once this track is filled out i'd love to hear the final version and even drop it in one of my sets for a breakdown... just wonderful! well well well done...

**edit: not sure why, but once i was done with the review and posted it, then got reminded of the name of the track, i got full body chills... theres something about this one! i have a feeling.**

Download one, download all. [Dub]Step right up and listen to the sounds of a Wremix for that Photek remix comp that I didn't end up entering
Listening to the original, now... getting excited but should probably go ahead and disclaim that i have only been listening to d&b type music for like a month or so, ive been way more into the slower grimier things, mostly because D&B makes me too emotional to dance haha! i know, i know, call me what you will...

Wrexile - "Photek - Fake ID (WREXMIX  )"

Props:
+well well well, some clever drums!!! the bass snare comes in so smoothly, i almost slid outta my chair
+nice use of the 'un-fucking-believable' sample, ties it in as a remix super well
+slows the sound down, which if you read the intro paragraph, is right up my alley
+good god that tweaked vocal thing, when it goes blippy, is AMAZINGLY tripadelictastic, which is a word i made up just for that noise
+agggghhh those bass lines are so tasty!!!!!
+variation kept me glued all the way through the song, didnt want to skip through for fear that i'd miss something, had to listen from start to finish each time

advice:
-some of the breaks confused me into what to do.. dance or chill.. would create kind of an awkward bob around for me at the club... sorry i know thats not helpful at all haha
-make a time machine and enter that contest!!! you're nuts for letting that one pass ya by! haha
-first drop (where reesey bass sounds come in) could be a little more defined, if you want it to be a drop... a little abrupt and grimey, which makes it feel like the intro just kinda turns into that heavy awesomeness
-doesnt really matter what you do with that first drop.. i would listen to six years of ambience to get to that heavy drop (@2:44).. really the highlight of the song, you couldnt have done that any better (this should go in the props but would kinda be outta context)

overall:
=i always wondered what it would sound like if NIN and Excision had a baby and that baby grew up and went to Grime College and double majored in Filth and Electro Destruction with a minor in drumNbass.... now i know!! brilliant! glad i already have this downloaded on my computer!!! so thank you!!! ill be rinsing this one out... think i could put it on the radio here in LA with your permission?

that 1st track is pretty good the drums need some strength but i like the vibes from it. the 2nd tracks bassline is too jittery for my likes it needs to be more stable to vibe with
word up, thanks for the feedback bro
btw you're beats are dope!

Got a new one for you all to review

Take a listen and all comments are welcome :e:

I promise I will start returning the favour soon but atm my internet is capped so it takes me like 20 minutes to load a song :u:

Danke :t:
Cairo - "Lottery Mentality (Cairo RMX)"

props:
+you got the vibe of the original quite well! glad you kept the dreamy vocal breaks but added reverb
+bass is warm and warbly, fits this track well! i like it more than some of the soft wasp synths
+panning break (@2:10) is done very well
+jumps back in at the perfect moment for me after that break
+decent automation for the second drop

advice:
-eh, the drums... if you're going for a chillout mix of the original, you're spot on... but to be honest it would take quite a bit of work to top the drums in the original.. i think you could do it but it would take many more grace notes and surprises
-second drop left me wanting more, not really feelin the groove
-main bass is well done (that was my only prob with the original) but you need something like that deep synth that soft wasp brings in second to really capture the darkness
-drags just a bit, trancey but would remind me that my legs are tired once the song hits 4:30 or so..
-was looking for variation or a deeper darker synth to come in, the automation in the second drop is leaning in the right direction

overall:
=i like this mix! you definitely hit the nail on the head with the main bass.. however i'd work on those drums! people that have heard the original would be looking for you to step it up and try and top them, which would be a feat but would result in EPICness... also, with a deeper bass with less resonance layered or alternated, this would DESTROY... really headed in the right direction tho!!

much love :w: :w:
Lovely feedback knell, always helpful.

I was going for a mellower mix of the OG but I do admit the drums need work, I had another drum track for this with more going on but it didnt feel right.

Ill work on the drums and your other points, but one up soft wasps drums!?!??! Near impossible, but ill have a crack

Thanks again :t:

Im gunna stop making beats for a while and concentrate on learning the theory a bit more so this is my last 1 for a while.

I will however stil lpost feedback as I am being enlightened to different styles of dubstep id never usually listened to so is making my tastes more diverse :D
