the soulful side of dubstep

Post by mrjoseph » Fri Jan 15, 2010 10:35 am

does it have a official sub genres name?
I know some headz don't want dubstep to split into sub genres but I'm after more soulful tracks. Less womp womp LFO and more groove if you get what I mean.

Always worth looking into 2step garage and funky genres if you want soul. Some of the best stuff combines dark basslines with soulful vocals and a properly considered groove. I'll make a list if I get the chance (the other side of lunchtime, om nom nom)

Download the latest anti social mix from rinse.fm : http://relay.exequo.org/rinsefm/podcast ... l11110.mp3 full of soulful dubstep.

Hunt down Silkie - city limits vol 1. Massive album, and really well mixed.

Grievous Angel does wonderful things with Jill Scott and early dubstep, it's this mix for On the Wire i think.

Look at the difference between the forum now and in the past. There was nothing wrong with the original post. He asked an honest question and received a lot of good responses. The thread was bumped 3 years later with a snide remark and I have no doubt if this thread was created today it would have been responded to with just about nothing but trolling.
