I just finish re editing this track!
see what you think .:Mon-Dazed:.
Thierry le DJ - "MonDazed"

props:
+that reverb on the snare makes it MASSIVE
+crisp, standard TlD
+that silent break (0:59) had me making sure soundcloud hadnt corrupted or something
+that bass that comes in sounds.... well... perfect haha
+blip gates add nice ambience, which is usually lost in most drum and bass only tracks...

advice:
-the main riff after the drop (1:01-3:33) is... well, as the time stamp indicates, over two and a half minutes long, which, for me... even with a perfect synth, no amount of variation in automation or drum switchups could prevent the riff from sounding rinsed by the end of that line, without a pause or sub-break or something to break the redundancy
-second drop/riff (3:46) kinda comes out of nowhere with no real build, might want to cut the bass down a tad in the mix if you want to keep it like this to give it a little more build and flow
-automation sounds slightly out of time at some points, but i may just be going crazy
-the second riff has none of that wonderful bass drum until (4:41), where it cuts back to being in full force... i think even the occasional hit (perhaps at the start of each measure starting at (4:07+)) would help increase the build of that second riff
-drum only outro is long if you want to keep it drum-only, unless you did that for mixing purposes, which i totally understand.. but as an album track it'd be great to hear that synth come back it all glitchy in the outro, like its fighting to stay alive

overall:
=this track is a great mix of dubstep with some trance-y elements thrown in, i thoroughly enjoyed it! especially that main synth... i think an octave jump or some sort of ending to each measure (aside from automation) would really spice it up, unless you're going for the full on trance vibe. great work on the edit, you pulled this track off really well. i'm definitely curious as to how you made that synth! sounds standard but i can never really get the same kinda growl out of Reason4...

much love :w:

Thanks for your time and the feed back knell!
respect..
yea i worked on the track
i just uploaded a new version on scloud but its down at the moment still waiting for it to apprrove my track
but am going to keep this version LOL the people following me on soundcloud are starting to get sick of me re -uploading the same track every few days..lol
it keep showing up in the up dates..

thanks again Knell.

Just wanted to say that I listened to a bunch of tracks, and most of them weren't my thing at all...so I thought it would be unfair to give feedback on something that isn't something I would be into in the first place.

Also, it helps if you mention a little something about your tune in the post instead of just posting a link to it...it makes me more likely to listen to it and less annoyed when I find out it's something that's not my style at all. :e:

00:01: Like your kik
00:19: Sample's got a wicked vibe to it - can u make the first bit clearer tho? cut down what's behind it or summit? i'm not into those repeated-kik-builds in general, so maybe see what it sounds like without them? just my taste, i know they work well in clubs and tbh that whole drop is sick anyway
00:27: It's ruff mate! sounds finished to me :)
00:38: where the wobz goes down like that, spot on
01:09: u know these high sweeps? u can turn em down i think, maybe vary em too?
01:45: think u can turn down yer hihats too, but don't trust my monitors
02:17: yeah this section comes correct. enough variety but still with the theme. I'd freak in the club for sure
03:39: surprise ending!

Good work fella, like it

00:04: like yr chords, nice vibe
00:31: purple synth :)
00:34: yeah right there, deep purple
00:57: wasn't too excited to hear the sample, but it came together nicely with the "spiritual" ting
01:08: yeah again, deeper purpler :)
01:56 erm, purplerer... gonna stop now
[just heard 03:15 - i like that too)

Yeah overall, i love yr synths. Very funky, nice1.

only suggestions is the beat could have a phatter sound - the rhythm's on-point, just some of yr sounds (toms, hihats esp.) could benefit from some more processing, but then again i process the life out of everything on my sh*t so don't listen to me

Gotta give this guy a review. He's called Dubsac ffs  . Legendary.

Dubsac - "new tune with itchy"

Props:
+Wicked sounding spacey synth in the intro. Sits well in the mix and sets a nice vibe from the outset.
+Drums @28sec come in HARD and set a nice groove straightaway. Interesting choice of kick sample too.
+Synth @1:10 brings with it a great changedown in the tune.
+"I'll give you pleasure...." nice sample.

Advice:
-Kicks sound a little flat to me. They could do with some more sub behind them. Try layering a kick from an 808 to give some real power.
-Snares need to be a lot higher in the mix. Also needs more body and reverb. Again, layering a more organic snare underneath will add a lot of smack. Remember that there isnt many snares in your average dubstep track so they need to be BIG.
-@1:36 the sub bass clashes with the kicks and muddys up the mix quite badly here. To stop it happening either side chain the kick to the bass so the bass ducks out of the way when the kick occurs or high pass the kick at the same frequency you low pass your sub at. This lets the two beathe together and you get the benefits of both without the muddy mix.
-Needs some more variation in the volumes of the various elements. Especially toward the end the synth and fx all seem to be very close to each other in volume and swamp each other slightly.

Overall:
I gotta admit. Its a billion times better than my first dubstep track  Needs some work on the bass and drum pattern but its nothing that you wont pick up in time. Keep at it and in a year you will be smashing up the dance just like our good friend Knellster!! Suggest you read the production bible sticky in particular look at gain structure, Eqing and sub bass. Keep em coming Dubsac :w:

Fuck yeah!!! This is what Im talking about :) This is my kind of track. Not a wobble in sight

Jack Dixon - "Somebody said they saw you...."

Props:
+Intro is expertly done. Not too long not too short. Perfect. Nice reveb fx on the synth layered with panned "whoosh" fx in the background set a superb laidback vibe.
+Wicked vocal sample. I love pitched down vocals and these are some of the freshest Ive head since "Archangel" :e:
+Cool glitchy almost garagey drum beat holds the track together and has a ton of groove. Has that special unquantized "live" sound.
+The hat shuffle is worth a mention on its own as it rolls so organicaly through the whole track. I wish I could write hats like this.....
+Female vox are eq'ed to perfection. They cut through the mix like any quality vocal should. Top marks for smple selection too.
+@2 min the synth and whoosh samples (similar to the intro but with less verb) work together well and remind you of how cool its was when you heard it in the intro.
+Sub and kick work well together. Nice rounded full sub with high pitched garagey kick = win.
+Synth playing piano style sounds in the background adds a nice energy throughout. Adds another layer of interest away from the main synth.
+Stuttery synth that plays most prominently in the last 20secs is a masterful little touch. Adds a nice pulse to the outro.
+Crystal clear mix.

Advice:
-The unprocessed sounding male vocal that comes in right at the beginning sounds a little out of place. Maybe a touch of verb/delay?. It might be an idea to try it pitched own like the other male vox. (I think I spot a nitpicker in the mirror....)
- Maybe a different synth line after the 2nd drop? This is pure greed on my behalf mind you  as it sounds brilliant as it is.

Overall:

Not much constructive criticism Im afraid. I just cant get over how much it grabbed me straight away.

So, in summary:
A well engineered, expertly executed track that ticks all the boxes as far as space, pace and bass go. Some beautifully worked vocal samples combine with throbbing sub and melodic synths to take the listener one step closer to chill out heaven. Cant help but think the next one from this guy is gonna be the key to the door....Big up Jack Dixon!!

really busy working on my latest track, so no reviews from me until tonight, but i promise ill bang out at least five of them, for sure.

so sorry if this is spam, just wanted to reply to comments:

@JFK- im glad i could help, this made me very happy. thats the main reason why i am totally honest with my reviews... blind love never helps anyone (i get plenty of that on myspace haha). i really enjoyed your track for being unique and experimental... i actually enjoyed wondering whether or not things in your music were intentional.. its the most i've thought about a track in a long time... to be honest i liked it better than Burial (haha dont let that go to your head tho :P ) keep up the good work. ill definitely be reviewing your tracks when i see them since you put equal effort into others..

@Thierry- no prob man, i'm becoming quite the fan of yours. looking forward to reviewing your tracks later tonight

@1iO- thanks for filling in the gaps here with your reviews. i enjoy reading your opinion and you're certainly a saint to the rest. glad i could be a part of your new track, thanks for the credz <3

@Everyone else- im gonna start refraining from saying "this is not my type of music" and just give an opinion, and i think we all should do the same. because, really, wouldnt it be great to get a variety of opinions, even from those who dont usually dig your tunes? i know i'd like that... except no one doesnt like BaronRogue...

..only joking

on another note... i've tried writing reviews in the WIP... and found it highly useless because i have so many ideas for half finished tracks... to be honest, i consider this to be the "real" WIP thread, because really, every finished track is still a WIP, theres something that you could do to every track, no matter how done it sounds... to make it better. you have to decide for yourself when its done or not. take every review with a grain of salt... taking my advice will make it sound better to me, but probably worse to others.. so, you have to take a blend of the advice you get here... really, pay attention to the review ideas that make you go "ohhh..." in your head, and ignore the nitpickies

sorry, rambling... could have written a review here, but oh well, ill make it up to you guys tonight

much love :w:
