Inspiration and Motivation

Finally got around to signing up, long time creeper, first time poster. this place is great btw..lots of info and tunes. now with that aside. Who and what was your inspiration to start producing/mixing? how long have you been at it? and lastly what keeps you motivated to keep producing/mixing?

Motivation? Pirated DAW taking up room on my desktop bout 5 years ago.

Go listen to some old stuff that 'broke the mold' theres a ton of inspiration out there.

When I was 14 in GCSE Music I was taught basic MIDI sequencing, and then from there it just sort of turned into an obsession... I've always been musical, but now my main instrument is a computer

Didnt even want to make tunes at first.... Just wanted to Dj and get a few birds.

Started making tunes because I wanted my own to play out. Motivation?...... Hmmmmm I just love doing it.

*Having people say nice things, especially when they exaggerate, and especially when it's a friend of a friend I don't know asking him on facebook "WTF DUDE YOU KNOW THE GUY WHO MADE THIS!?"
*Hash and alcohol obviously help
*It's just what I love doing with my free time
*I love almost all of the other people doing this, being part of such a cool scene especially here in Israel where it's small enough that everyone knows everyone, but you can always meet someone new
*I hear music in everything
*Anger, euphoria, experiences, sadness, temporary insanity, etc... all those make me want to vent out through my music
*Hearing a song I like from a completely different genre and trying to interpret it through dubstep

IMHO I think writers block is bullshit. Inspiration is endless, just get out there and experience the world.
I do believe in generally just not feeling it at the moment...

dude, i think you've described all of us... music is the way that musicians deal with the world, in the same way that a gun is how a soldier deals with the world...

what i take inspiration from is everything... all music that has ever happened influences me. when i feel that super deep sub bass, sometimes i think back to the stories where buddha walked the earth and all that kind of zen stuff... makes me feel so peaceful inside... i think it's the same feeling that christian's call "god"... and when i hear those shuffley hi hats and huge snare, i sometimes think of the dual nature of chaos/order, in the way it relates to subatomic particles... and when i hear some atmospheric pads, i sometimes think of all the universe, constantly revolving around us, unseen, and how it would continue to go even without us... and sometimes when i hear all those things at a big night, i just think about all that liquid i dropped not too long ago...
all these things become one.. all the past exists in the present, and so does the future.. that's how music makes me feel. that's what inspires me to reach out with music.
