Keeping the Autopilot dub factory in full swing, I'm putting out this collection of remixes that have been sitting around on my hard drive for a while.

Since releasing Fireflies back in August, I've learned quite a bit in the fields of mastering and DJ friendly production. After several weeks of spinning on Sub FM, I discovered that a lot of the tunes weren't very DJ friendly at all. They worked best when dropped into suddenly, and played for their entire duration. I went back and remixed several of the tunes, adding things like 8-16 bar intros, breaks & drops in the middle of the songs, and more sparse, mix-friendly soundscapes (spreading the various elements out into their own parts instead of going with the wall-of-sound style my IDM and post-rock backround led me towards).

The result of this hindsight-fueled remix effort is this 6 track EP. The tracks have been reworked, reorganized, remixed, remastered, elements added, elements taken out, and basically just completely overhauled to make them much more friendly for all different styles of mixing, and much more palatable for both massive rave systems and iPod headphones alike. It was refreshing to revisit the tunes months later, and I hope to do more of this kind of release in the future.

Sending much love and respect to all those giving their support over the last several months, be it with tune purchases, dub swapping, show audience, or even an unexpected kind word out of the blue. You lot are the reason I toil away at this business night after night. :)

Love,
Autopilot

Future:Dubstep:03 Mixed By MRK1:
http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/future ... d349466603

Out Now on iTunes. Full Double CD (with bonus mix from Hatcha and tracks from Cyrus) and digital release next Monday [01/02/2010]

When deciding who should mix Future:Dubstep:03 there was no hesitation in asking MRK1 (Previously known as Mark One and real name, Mark Foster). He is undoubtedly one of Dubstep’s most established and respected figure heads. Through his own contagious label, mix compilations including Rephlex’s ‘Grime’ (a key release in pushing the Dubstep / Grime sound to a wider audience) and releases on the genres biggest labels including two artist albums, MRK1 is without shadow of a doubt one of the genre’s most influential and successful artists.

Apart from production and mix compilations though, Mark has also DJ’d all over the world and played at some of the globe’s best clubs and biggest festivals including: Glastonbury (UK), Ros Kilde (Denmark), Wilsonic (Solvenia), 10 Days Off (Gent), Sonar (Barcelona), Glade (UK), and Cream (UK).

MRK1’s success behind the decks and studio buttons have led him to appear on almost every major UK radio station including Kiss FM, BBC Radio 1, 1xtra and Galaxy FM. On top of this Mark has also been featured in major dance publications from Mixmag to IDJ and DJ magazine.

Featuring on the compilation are three records from Hatcha & Kromestar as well as a host of records from MRK1 himself and bonus tracks from Cyrus (of Random Trio). Future:Dubstep:03 also previews tracks from some of Dubstep’s best up & coming talent including the consistently genre chart topping Bare Noize (who also mixed Future:Dubstep:02), Rebel Sonix, Scott Nixon, RMS and Trimaxis.

Eight:FX will also be releasing a limited edition 2 x CD of Future:Dubstep:03 with bonus CD featuring the original Future:Dubstep:01 mixed by Kiss FM’s DJ Hatcha.

Pure Phase out of Leicester, UK drops three filthy Dubstep tunes on Dirty Circuit Records with The Itchy EP. ‘Get Me Off’ features a naughty and cleverly used sample with complimentary electronics, raucous, wobbling basslines, and stepping drums for a wonky, tantalizing bass drunk tune. ‘Turf’ eases in with smooth sub bass, a resonating kick drum and drops in with impact - mechanical, heavy and soulfully crafted, it sounds like machines conversing passionately. ‘Itch that Itch’ seduces with a gratifying sub bass and melody, booming bass, and drum kicks going double time and back, this one’s a dance floor banger with an infectious stomping beat. Scratch that itch and pick up The Itchy EP digitally from Beatport, Digital-Tunes and Addictech January 27th.

ez peoples :)

In the shops now......

http://www.digital-tunes.net/releases/the_amyl_ep

and some blurb :)

HED:REMOTE is a new experimental label aimed at those on the fringes of techno, dubstep and jungle. The first EP features Hoax (Hidden Hawaii/Instabil), Control Remote (MJAZZ/Modern Dub) & Foniqz (Vibez/Urban Chemistry) with support from Dubstepfm and Subfm amongst others.

Opening track ‘Amyl’ by Hoax can only be described as a claustrophobic journey into rolling, sci-fi dubstep oblivion while track 2 ‘Rogue’ by Control Remote has one foot firmly rooted in early jungle territory and an ear to future sci-fi grooves. Foniqz rounds of the EP with ‘Smudj’ which lifts the mood whilst still retaining the 140 bpm rolling aesthetic that this EP reflects and injects some much needed vibes after the sonic assualt of the first two tracks.

EP2 is due out later this month and will reflect the slightly slower, trippier end of the techno and dub spectrum.
