Benga's influence on Skream
Just listening back to the Breezeblock show, so many of the tracks that are listed as new Benga dubs sound so much like Skream. I was chatting to people throughout the show and (other than Gavin Distinction, who nailed more or less each one!
) we were all convinced they were Skream tunes. I guess it's not surprising that Benga was an influence, Big Apple connection and everything... but does anyone know much, or anything about the real early days, when they started producing, why Benga seems to have taken so much time out etc... or maybe Benga's taken so much time out that Skream's new beats have influenced him?
skream does all sorts of tunes tho, duppy ,and all that ,bengas style isnt anything like that ,the mutating bass tunes r a style.

nuff respect 2 skream
to b honest i would of thought skream influences me as much as i influence him as producers we have grown together so that is bound to happen i wouldnt say iv been away im still listen people say iv been away cos i aint makin as much as i was before but this years a new year big up skream hes massive Literally! best dubstep producer in my eyes!!!!
DMZ, with tunes like 'Forgive' were also responsible for Skreams' 'musical' direction.Plasticman wrote:Skream taught Benga how to do the 404 basslines - he was the originator cos he showed me aswell.
Benga had a big influence on Skream aswell though - he added the melodic edge to Skreams production, back in the day all skream's beats were just bass and beats - now they're very musical.
Since the early Apple days, Benga has since spent time working as a professional engineer/producer with Artwork, working with artists like Crazy Titch etc, whereas Skream focused on making dubstep alone.

every single benga and skream tune from 2002-3 has it, this warping wobbling sub bass. check old hatcha sets and every big apple/benga beats 12" from benga or skream.
