What type of headphones should I buy?

Post by kJL » Tue Jan 26, 2010 8:07 am

I'm trying to decide, and having a hard time. I love deep bass, lowww wobbles. Supposedly SENNHEISER DJs HD212 Pro's are good, they claim to have lots of bass. Does anyone have a better suggestion?

Honestly, all the senheisers I heard were rather bad for a good sounding bass.

I prefer sony when I "listen" to music instead of making it.

In reviews I read, DJ's are saying the bass is weak. :S

What are you gonna be using the headphones for and what price range?

Now I mostly just listen to music. I would like to start producing though. I make little beats on FL Studio. And it depends, I would like to stay below $150.00. But if they're just that good, then it could change.

Get sennheiser in ears just for listening then spend the rest on a alright pair of production headphones

Ive been buying the Sony MDR line for a couple models now, but I only DJ and preview back / double reference sound in them, they color bad... they got a nice sound though, are durable lil muffuckas, n thier only like 20-30 bucks, so Im not crushed when I break em... n they aint half bad for listenin back either, nice low response...

great for cue phones though.

AKG are great. They always look smooth, and have a nice warm bass. I still like sony more though..

Beyerdynamic DT770 are detailed and have a nice deep bottom end.

AKG K240 are natural, non fatiguing and comfortable, bass not so heavy though.

cheers

I'm a big fan of the allen & heath XD-53. It's actually a DJ headphone but the response is pretty flat, and it has a pretty big frequency range.

Specs:
• 53mm diameter drivers
• High power neodymium magnet design
• Folding design for compact portability
• Long listening comfort
• Carry pouch included
• OFC [Oxygen-free Copper] wire cables
• 3.5mm [1/8"] connector with 6.3mm [1/4"] jack adapter
• Type: Closed-back Dynamic (circumaural isolation design)
• Frequency Response: 5 – 33,000 Hz
• Maximum Input Power: 3,500 mW
• Sensitivity: 105 dB/mW at 1 kHz
• Impedance: 36 ohms
• Weight: 320 g
• Cable: 1.2 m (Coiled)/Max. 3.0 m (OFC)

pretty much bang for your buck

i think if you are producing dubstep, having the extra bass that the audio technicas provide can be helpfull, cause its nice to hear it, cause in a club it will seem louder cause of the hench subs you get n stuff. So really you wont get a true representation in a club the sub n that will be louder
