:despair: lol, the funny thing is nobody on this thread has cussed down the uplifting sounds one little bit, I think everyone is in agreement that diversity is the key - big small light dark the whole spectrum. :D personally I love that sound as much as I love all the other facets that make up this whole shindig.

The actual discussion stemmed from the apparent christening in the first post using a few words with either negative past connotations or links to other forms of music that would cause confusion.

Its a funny old game Sidney!

I think the majority of the people here are all about the diversification of the music. The broader the spectrum of influence the better! And yes, it all came about by dubbing a specific sound with an old connotation (pun intended ). Not that the "liquid" sound has negative connotations, but it does directly reference the drum n bass genre that it seems this genre is trying to get out from under the shadow of. I think the "intelligent" word is the one that really struck a chord.

So ya, bring on the innovation, bring on the different influences, this sound has no boundries right now!

badman! u see music aswell? hold tight all the people with the gift sometimes i don't make tunes by sound i make it by colour or the picture in my head u might think i'm crazy but its true
Krazy or not but I have sometimes samething! Its not like I see scoreline and keynotes 'in my head', its sometimes colours and feelings that just transfer to sounds and melodies.. :o

Anyway Im lookin forward to see more soulful dubstep!! tracks like Minnie Ripperton track and D1 : Give It back !

ps. Too much negative vibes in this thread.. Makes me kinda sad.

I couldn't give a shit actually, I'll still buy and play the tunes I like, regardless of what "subgenre" it belongs to.
If subgenres happen, cool. If they don't happen, cool. You could call it ultrahomobumboystep, but if it sounds good, it sounds good.
Fuck those for subgenres and fuck those not for subgenres, neither party are adding anything useful.

Different flavours is always good and makes a set progressive. I like every kind of (IMO good) music!

But I wouldn't welcome different sub-genres as it happend with drum n' bass.

Beautifully said

unfortunately 'words' will continue define these so called genres and thats where we all seem to loose it....
