liquid dubstep....THE FUTURE
:despair: lol, the funny thing is nobody on this thread has cussed down the uplifting sounds one little bit, I think everyone is in agreement that diversity is the key - big small light dark the whole spectrum. personally I love that sound as much as I love all the other facets that make up this whole shindig.
The actual discussion stemmed from the apparent christening in the first post using a few words with either negative past connotations or links to other forms of music that would cause confusion.
Its a funny old game Sidney!

QUEST wrote:u people are reading too deeply into things its all dubstep i didn't say it was anything else liquid is just a word to describe that side of things its not something ive come up with off the top of my head people in the industry have used that word, and why can't i use the word intelligent, i can make a grime tune in 2 minutes and i ain't lying but dubstep is different more thought is put into into therefore it is more intelligent, people have to stop being scared of change, things will go where they are gonna go anyway so who can stop it? if its meant to be its meant to be

I think the majority of the people here are all about the diversification of the music. The broader the spectrum of influence the better! And yes, it all came about by dubbing a specific sound with an old connotation (pun intended ). Not that the "liquid" sound has negative connotations, but it does directly reference the drum n bass genre that it seems this genre is trying to get out from under the shadow of. I think the "intelligent" word is the one that really struck a chord.
So ya, bring on the innovation, bring on the different influences, this sound has no boundries right now!

Krazy or not but I have sometimes samething! Its not like I see scoreline and keynotes 'in my head', its sometimes colours and feelings that just transfer to sounds and melodies..QUEST wrote:gravious wrote:badman! u see music aswell? hold tight all the people with the gift sometimes i don't make tunes by sound i make it by colour or the picture in my head u might think i'm crazy but its trueQUEST wrote: I have an idea of the sound I want to create in my head, but its more of a picture than a word, otherwise I'd probably try and describe it too.
Anyway Im lookin forward to see more soulful dubstep!! tracks like Minnie Ripperton track and D1 : Give It back !

I couldn't give a shit actually, I'll still buy and play the tunes I like, regardless of what "subgenre" it belongs to.
If subgenres happen, cool. If they don't happen, cool. You could call it ultrahomobumboystep, but if it sounds good, it sounds good.
Fuck those for subgenres and fuck those not for subgenres, neither party are adding anything useful.

Beautifully saiddrum syndicate wrote:the beauty of this music, is that there is one term to call it. and that it's left up to person listening or making the music to define what it is, but no definition is inherently right or wrong. it's all in the interpretation.
unfortunately 'words' will continue define these so called genres and thats where we all seem to loose it....

i got a couple of dubs in that style - see peers lowered and coldsore on the myspace....
