No wonder these god damn genres aren't more popular!

Post by WatchYourStep » Tue Feb 02, 2010 11:07 am

I've spent the last few hours making sure I'm good and sleep-deprived for my day at school tomorrow by staying up looking for bassline music on the internet. I've found some sick stuff, no doubt, but it's a pain in the ass getting your hands on it. Let me explain:
  • Let's say you found an article on puregrime that contained some downloads. You aren't really sure, though, b/c the message body is blocked for non-members. "Okay, I can respect that", you might say to yourself as you quickly fill out the registration form and reply to the activation email sent to your account. A couple clicks totalling ~15sec of work isn't too bad for some pirate's bounty. But then you get on the forum and it's like "To view this thread or threads in this forum your post count must be 25 or greater." And just as your mind forms the letters "WTF", another message on the forum main page says that you can't spam to up your post count or you'll be banned. Oh, forgot to mention, any time you click anywhere in the forum, you get pop-ups. Thanks, that's just great.

This one artist sells his shit almost entirely on CDs. Really, man? CDs? I'm surprised you even knew what an "internet website" was to put them up for sale! Holy shit, what is this demon thing on my screen -jifjweaehug lfjfb
The only thought going through my brain the entire ordeal is The Internet: UR DOIN IT RONG!!.

I highly doubt Rusko, Skream or Caspa got to where they are today by making little nursery forums where members have to bullshit about dick all for 25 lines before they could sneak a listen to this sick exclusive track called "Jahova", "Well 'Ard" or "Rutten", but I could be wrong, because I wasn't in the scene in 2005.

its HUGE in the north isnt it? never really made it down south. it got quite big as uk garage was fading out and you had all that speed garage, 4x4 stuff going on.

i dont mind the odd listen every now and then but sounds too cheesy for my liking.

4x4 beats with UKG sounding hi octave bouncy basslines and usually glitchy sped up r'n'b vocals, it's kind of become the music for them moronic champaign sippin' wannabe vip empty heads, that wear 'ice' and very little designer clothing. Some of its decent still.

I like a bit of Bassline every now and then, its fun to throw about 20 minutes or so of it into a set, then swtich it back to dubstep.

I think it's like MoS kind of tunes with a waaarpwaaarp instead of a wubwubwub, admittedly I haven't heard much so I am probably wrong and massively generalising my description.

Just like dubstep, it doesn't sound good until you hear it on a proper system.

bassline is pretty massive up north. its my life ambition to someday twat jamie duggan.
And it also pisses me off when people call bassline niche, its not niche, its bassline. Tis good for skanking to :D
