Dont be such a twat. You either dont know any of the answers yourself or youre a born prick. Either way, just refrain from hitting the "submit" button in future.

if you're looking for something free to begin with i recommend mutools mulab:

http://www.mutools.com/downloads.html

i started out with it, it has the cleanest interface ever, superspeed workflow, does midi, audio, vst, has a mad powerful modular synth built inside too. no timestretching though, and the free version is limited to 6 tracks. still, the trick is that you can always be a ninja and put unlimited parts on top of each other on a single track. -t-

there's also reaper, but i find it quite fugly:

http://www.reaper.fm/

it's not really free though, you're supposed to buy it after 30 days, even though it will work forever.

FL studio is not free however if you do buy the online version then you get free lifetime updates no matter what. You can't really beat that when it comes to buying software.

If you don't have the money for it then pick up a computer magazine as it comes with all the free software to get you started on making music.

Ignorance of the past leads to new invention.

Pay for your software or you will gargle balls for ever.
