djtrash wrote:hey, new to the boards but i've been listening to dubstep for a while now. as i've listened, i've gravitated more towards rusko's older stuff (do u wanna have a party, cest la vie, and older remixes, etc) that i guess would described as being more "hype" than a lot of dubstep out there. can anybody point me towards something similar without getting to intense (see ashburner "next hype" remix) as i'm kinda getting tired of the same tracks, no matter how nasty they are? thanks guys
u mean more dancey kind of shit? ur definition of hype based on those tunes seems a bit ignorant to be honest, but I dunno how long or how much u have heard.
most types of dubstep are hype, just in different ways. that might sound cliched but its true.

heh would you really call hyperdub a "chill" label though? just cause it's not lolchainsaw doesn't mean it doesn't work on 'the floor'
i've never claimed to be into "chill dubstep" because it's "chill"

But judging by people's respnses to it, it had already been used. So it's still a mystery
I was lurking on DSF long before I registered. Someone made an actual thread called "brostep", complaining about how it was the dominant sound. It was in that thread where people were asking "wtf is is brostep?" and so on. That was the first use of the term. However I have no clue who it was, and the thread seems to have disappeared.
