Sometimes you actually forget
Sometimes you actually forget
how fucking much you love dubstep
ive been pretty apathetic with it last couple of weeks, but I just wacked on an old playlist i found full of bait tunes (classics though, Haunted, Burnin), turned up the subwoofer, and oh my, you forget, and then 'Psyman - Elite Warrior'. I dont even fucking know who Psyman is but that second drop just sent me to another level. Full on shivers and skanking.
THANKS

Re: Sometimes you actually forget
ever since i heard burial over here in the states, my obsession has grown by the day.
Re: Sometimes you actually forget
Every once in a while a tune just hits you... hard to explain but it's great.
Re: Sometimes you actually forget
dubstep get's a bit boring after a while
Re: Sometimes you actually forget
and this might sound a bit controversal, but Caspa and Rusko are watering down dubstep over and over with each and every release. if anything, dubstep should be kept fresh and versatile. but hey, big names will always do big names things.
Re: Sometimes you actually forget
Sometimes it gets a little boring but then (like Pallms said) a track comes up and smacks your brain around like a illegitimate step-child. I had that happen to me today with some Starkey tracks.
Re: Sometimes you actually forget
yep, it's easy to find all the good dubstep at the moment, but you wait, 10 years time, you'll have 5 or 6 big name dj's in a new fascist dubstep scene (probably still called "dubstep" as a brand name) spinning out the same 'bangers' over and over. the music will have completly watered down and it will be hard to find the old 2005-2009 sound. any decent tunage will get ignored by the above 5/6 big name djs.
BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS TO ALL MUSIC SCENES.

Im not a pessimist but, I'm just saying.. enjoy this era whilst you still can.
even though we know dubstep's future will fuck up, at least we can say we were there at the start
and tell all the new generation of kids (in 2020) on all the great things they missed.

That's like the least controversial thing I've ever read. Seriously, Belgium is more controversial than that.
Re: Sometimes you actually forget
yeah well I'm not being funny but, we need to maybe think about kicking Rusko out of the scene, before it get's stale too soon. I mean, like death - you know it's gonna happen eventually, but it would be good to delay it much as possible.
Re: Sometimes you actually forget
I actually respect Rusko alot more recently for making tunes that he likes and not caring what people think. It's like he created a whole wave of clones becuase his take on dubstep was really well recieved, now he's changing his sound again people are like "ohh he's not making exactly the same tunes he was a few years ago and I don't particularly like his new sound, kick him out of the genre".lynn mc wrote:yeah well I'm not being funny but, we need to maybe think about kicking Rusko out of the scene, before it get's stale too soon. Sorry to kick a dead horse but if you don't like it don't listen to it, stop saying he's shit or whatever just becuase he isn't sticking to the formula.

I never understand the Rusko hate.
He's doing his own thing, and he's doing pretty good. I say pat him on the back. Big ups to Rusko.

i was quite into the Hardcore scene and this is the reason i stopped listening to it. i was too young at the time to go to raves etc so would download mixes and buy mixtapes and it was just the same 10 or so artists pumping out eachothers tracks. was boringlynn mc wrote:yep, it's easy to find all the good dubstep at the moment, but you wait, 10 years time, you'll have 5 or 6 big name dj's in a new fascist dubstep scene (probably still called "dubstep" as a brand name) spinning out the same 'bangers' over and over. the music will have completly watered down and it will be hard to find the old 2005-2009 sound. any decent tunage will get ignored by the above 5/6 big name djs.

Perhaps. But at least some of the good ones will still make good stuff then, yes? Or they'll get too tired of the crap that's being pumped out and just quit...

same in the whole reggae thing.lynn mc wrote:yep, it's easy to find all the good dubstep at the moment, but you wait, 10 years time, you'll have 5 or 6 big name dj's in a new fascist dubstep scene (probably still called "dubstep" as a brand name) spinning out the same 'bangers' over and over. the music will have completly watered down and it will be hard to find the old 2005-2009 sound. any decent tunage will get ignored by the above 5/6 big name djs.

the watered, boring, 100-times cooked up bob marley 1974-alike-tunes get played over and over again. but there is always a little, but good scene that loves the deepness of the genre. that leads to the (sometimes extremly rare) early reggae/rock steady stuff.
same will probably happen du dubstep... i can see it coming on ebay... year 2040: an early mala record going off for $270 to some dubstep collector
