Best club ive ever been to. Berghain is mostly hard techno, which is great if youre into that kind. Panorama bar is more house orientated, on a good night it is said that panorama bar have the best dance floor in the world.

Yeah, I've heard some odd stories about that place.

One involving two blokes fisting on a table.

They also have a very strict door policy, perhaps because the club is a gay club, but maybe also because they want to protect their scene. The club is also a camera free zone.

Been once, " didn't fit " another time.

From the one experience I had it lives up to its rep.
I never did anything better on a Sunday then see Cassy and Carl Craig.
Dont go near the place till after 10am Sunday, horrible ques.

Door policy is hard but fair, unfortunatelly necessary due to the popularity. Berghain is a very special place. My advice for travellers would be not show up at the door with a larger group of straight males, i think it's good not to look too drunk, drugged, aggressive, young, boring (mainstream-tourist), loud!

Been a couple of times, amazing venue. Been nowhere like it. Worth it just to see the venue itself and sit on them swings.

It is true about the door policy though. Best thing you can do is not let the bouncer hear you speak english in the queue and don't go in a big group. But even if you follow all the advice you may get in one week and not the next. No guarantee... unless you're on guestlist. Or playing.

this^^ although its true of most clubs in berlin. most of my mates got turned away from both here and watergate. 2 had guestlist and i spent most of the q talking to some irish lass so the bouncer assumed we were a couple. aslong as your in a small group it should be alright, the second time we went to berghain some cockney geezer tagged on to us,think of a dwarf rugby player caricature of danny dyer shouting his mouth off about how much money he made, how much of a lad he was ect and we still got in so its just luck really.

an incredible venue, maybe the best presentation of club/electronic music in the world? The natural reverb in berghain, paired with the towers of Funktion One gear, makes for amazing sound...I could listen to kickdrums for days in there. Also, check out the espresso/gelato bar on the top floor for refreshments.

To increase your chances of getting in, play it cool in line, dont show up with a mob of people, and (maybe this sounds a bit facist) but try not to speak english. They open the windows in Panorama usually around 10am, definitly worth checking out.

Berghain is quality, one of the most memorable clubbing experiences I've had, incredible atmosphere (even if it was partially due to seeing two sweaty Germans going at it next to the dancefloor). Panorama Bar is even better, amazing music and vibes! Door policy is indeed a tnuc though, in the two times I've been I've witnessed very little correlation in who they do and don't let in (I'm a 21 year old male English student and I got in both times I've been, while Germans near me in the queue were turned away).

Watergate is definitely worth a visit too. Everyone there was an absolute legend, no rowdiness, just there for the music. Lindstrom basically gave me a 2 hour long orgasm in the upper room. Door policy is again silly, they were turning away about 50% of people in the queue.

I guess the best advice is don't be too loud in the queue, go with plenty of gash if you can (but not in too large a group), and hope for the best. :D Berlin is amazing.

It also helps if you do get stopped at the door to say you really wanted to see whatever act is playing. Its last gasp stuff but it might get you through.
