CD's and Digital Downloads don't have any quality control. Anyone can put out any old shite on the internet for download.

If something makes it to vinyl, it usually means its worth it and someone believes in it enough to go through the hassle and costs of making it happen.

CDJ's are cool. I don't hate them, but I have more respect for a DJ who plays the majority of his tunes on vinyl.

CD's are expendable which is why most pedantic music stnuc hate them. Quickly bang out a tune, burn it to CD, play it the same night - see how it goes off, cool. This is why I don't like CD's - not CDJ's.

Oh yeah, when was the last time you left a vinyl on the deck? Probably half as many times as you've left a CD in the CDJ at a club.

Did I miss something? If I upload something, thats choosing to upload and publish it. Hence why I have one track up, as I don't like the rest. The only difference is price. Regardless, the person buying the music still has to make the decision to fork over the money for it, whether its 20 bucks for a record or .99c for an iTunes download. To say that digital is somehow invalid as a music format because it allows more freedom to producers and buyers is downright bullshit. Take your record player and go back to your cave. I'm surprised you don't use a rotary telephone and ride a horse to work.

I was more implying it from a publishers point of view.

Make shit tune, upload to bandcamp or w/e, sell it for £1 - nothing lost.

or

Make shit tune, spend money on mastering, cutting, distribution - 100's of sterlings lost.

If you're still failing to follow what I mean, then out to you for missing the point.

I spoke to Wil Blaze or THC about it online and straight-up offered to change my DJ name as soon as I realised the similarity. They were cool with it (at least at the time!) so I've stuck with it and am going to continue to do so.

The £ is the key difference, and we're at opposite ends of the country so there's no massive confusion about it as far as I'm aware.

So basically you're saying its harder to get tunes out, and this is somehow better? Are you saying more freedom of choice is worse? Would you rather every car cost $100,000 minimum, because then we'd all be driving 'quality cars'?

big ups £10 bag still. like he said he has proberbly got most original dmz vinyls which not many people have and they play a big part in the scene, you aint getting dj's spinning dmz tunes on cd decks thats for sure (unless there fake djs who download vinyl rips or was one of the lucky people to buy it on digital before they stopped)

I've bought DMZ001 on white label off of Youngsta in Blackmarket years ago. Same with Hyperdub001. Both in my loft. Does it make my argument more valid? Probably not... coz I recorded them to WAV two years ago for my CDJs... I get about 14.3% less enjoyment when I mix them and listen back on my CDJs, but it is worth it I tells thee. The plastic of the CDJs feels much warmer on my tender palms than the cold, casted steel shells of my old 1210s. Good riddance!

I remember the days of sitting in my record store sifting through a pile of 60 records only for one to be half decent, not much has changed in my opinion. I'd end up buy the 5 off the rack that the shop assistant handed me. Now I tend to buy the 5 at the top of boomkats page, and sack off the 160 records underneath after listening.

still am cool with it mate... you probably were called it long before we started the label... the key thing is neither of us were copying the other or whatever... i ain't about to ask anyone to change their dj name! as it goes... i think there was more to the coincidence about the name that led to rob asking if you were me... but that's another story

I've got massive respect for the few DJs left who cut and play purely vinyl like Mala but ppl who get their message wrong and think one digital format is better than another need to stfu - playing at track on serato doesn't make it any warmer than playing it on a cdj its still a digital track. Although the new serato is supposed to sound a lot better pioneers piss all over the old serato for sound quality and reliability which I think is far more important than how it looks or how a rewind sounds.

Its one thing for a DJ who plays mainly other ppls tunes to play vinyl but when your dealing with loads of unreleased wavs it becomes a lot more expensive, I would have had to spend around £5000 on dubs last year (assuming 100 dubs @ £50 each) if I'd been using 100% vinyl either that or compromise on what I play based on what I can which is a pretty retarded thing to do just to make a point of playing vinyl alone
