Re: mau5step
its so funny how the people hating on it and calling it shit were expecting some insane original dubstep production from a guy who has house music down to a science.....they wanted the track to sound like the second coming of skream and zomby combined....
Re: mau5step
Expected a bit better from such a talented producer!

Skream and Zomby combined happened, and it sounded like this:rinseballs21 wrote:its so funny how the people hating on it and calling it shit were expecting some insane original dubstep production from a guy who has house music down to a science.....they wanted the track to sound like the second coming of skream and zomby combined....

Re: mau5step
One more thing to say about this:
If you're famous for producing a certain style of music and you want to experiment in a different area, do it under an alias. That way, if the tunes flop, nobody will care, and b/c nobody knows it's you - it doesn't damage your name. But if your new tunes blow up and you become huge, people will be astonished and wonder how you did it and pour 3x the praise in your lap.
Case study: Joey Youngman making electro under the name Wolfgang Gartner.
If all of a sudden 'Joey Youngman', funky house producer, started putting out tunes like "Hook Shot", his fans would be like wtf is this? and be turned off. But people started to love his new tracks w/o ever having heard of this 'newcomer'. And once his identity was revealed, the entire world (ie: me) had much respect for his ability to be multi-talented.

the problem with science is that it's FORMULAIC
there wasn't supposed to be a formula, seems like a lot of producers are stuck in 06/07

Seriously, I'm SO FUCKING SICK of all the cool guys on this forum who bash big names.pkay wrote:lol so one of the best selling EDM artists in the world tries his hand at dubstep and you biters start hating on him?

If I posted that exact tune on the dubs section, everyone would be like
Nice choon bruv, 320!
Massive!
Nice production skillz mate!
blah blah blah but as soon as a DIFF name is behind it (deadmau5, rusko, caspa, etc) it becomes instantly cool to be a complete shit head to the artist and say it's the shittiest track, stick to house, etc etc.
I've heard INIFINITELY worse tracks than that all over this forum and everyone's real supportive but as soon as a big name releases something it's shit. I'm willing to bet half of you would call it shit JUST because it was Deadmau5 trying a dubstep track (this is some poseur shit
Grow up people. Every single dubstep track was made by a human being (just like you and me) and they put their work, their time, their emotions, etc into it.
Don't be sheepish assholes, even if you don't think the person is listening.

Re: mau5step
if you don't like the sound, you don't like the sound, but it's hard to argue with the quality and attention to detail in the man's house productions..
if he dropped this track 3 years ago it might come off a bit more credible. deadmau5 should try funky instead

Re: mau5step
wolfgang gartner is so solid. he'll be as big as deadmau5 soon enough. every release has hit top spot on beatport, and now he has undocumented management behind him it's blow up time
