"sampler" in ableton has to much going on for me.
Dang, I use almost everything on the sampler. I can't even remember what a simpler looks like. I guess it depends on how you use them. I often times use the sampler like a synth just using my own waveforms instead of an oscillator.
yea i did use sampler for a while, but i realized that i really wasnt using all the features it has, and all the features i did use where on the simpler, and on one page. i think its sampler that has the tabs you switch between.

Yep I love it and it shocks me that people use impulse over drum racks too. Oh well it's your tunes not mine

Shit, I've been making Impulse kits since Live 4 and I've got loads of em. I also have a ton of drum rack kits. Not to mention all of my sampler kits. And I use all of them at various points.... Drum racks didn't even come into play until Live 7 which was like 2 years ago.

I can't imagine doing all my drums in audio. How do you adjust your envelops and shit? I do some things in audio but it is imo not good for all things drums.

gates, but alot of the times i dont edit the attack anyway, just the decay really.

i do feel that i have more control over the sounds working in audio.

I find audio easy as well. Incredible for using the old school breaks I wish I would have quit Reason a long time ago for that fact. Love it for certain things but I know I have more control with drum racks. I just can't imagine using 100% either or.

I allways use kontakt cause i learnt how to use it. Sometimes i just snap em straight into the grid but if you want to make a keyboard out of a sample kontakt is usefull, the adsrs and lfos modulation etc on it arnt that shabby, i generally use other vsts however cause i know my way around them better. Some really nice instruments for it as well. Havnt used other samplers really

I guess I should say it aint no Kontakt, but what really do you have to ask for free?

And I have to add:
Mac/Win vers.,
32/64 bit vers,
Standalone as well as well plug-in
uses most sample types (Rex, aiff, wav, soundfont, Apple loops)
Sample/Slice Start for loops and phrases
Lovely REAL TIME timestretch (ohhhhh delicious)
Drag & Drop MIDI & Audio (if your host supports it)
Expandable with new UVI Soundcards & UVI Soundsource (sample libraries, but you're free to make your own by importing samples)
Direct connection to the UVI SoundSource RSS feed (handy if you wanna know whats new with UVI samples libraries)

Oh, yeah... ITS FUCKING FREE!!!!
There really cant be a better sampler at the price. Kicks most pay samplers ass as well.
The only caveat, when you install, it tries to install PACE Lok. Simple, when it asks to install, don't, if you wanna go that way.

But dont listen to me. I'm dumb.

P.S. Arpeggiator too, nukkkaaaaassssss

I've never used a hardware sampler, but i really like FL's sampler. As for samplers having specific 'sounds', this is what fx is for? I want to colour the sound the way I want...

You assume that you have the ability to generate the sound of a sp303 or an asr-x. I don't know that you do.
