How do you know?????
How do you know when your tune is good to go?
the amount of neck pain from nodding your head for 8 hours straight?
do you wait for your lady to come home and fling her underwaer at you?
or do you drop it in a club and see how the crowd reacts?
or do you rely on feedback from the freetwenty gang in the dubs section?
what do you guys use to gauge the quality of your tunes?

Re: How do you know?????
I make music for myself, first and foremost. I know when a tune is good when I'm happy with it, enjoy listening to it, and there's nothing I want to change. There have been times where I've listened to a tune 6 months later and changed a few things, but that's usually because there was something I wasn't 100% happy with in the first place and I finally decided I wanted to make the track stronger.
Basically, I make music I like, so if I love it, then I know it's good. It's always good to hear that other people are enjoy it as well.

Re: How do you know?????
I don't know, because I made a track which I thought was good and it got bad feedback and I did the opposite with another track.
Trick:
Google the track and your producer name. See if anything comes up like possible blogging/mentions on forums/etc etc
It might be egotistical but if people are talking about it that's a good start.

Re: How do you know?????
its a tough call sometimes. for me i know when a tune sounds done and has enough elements when i stop thinking "oh i need to add this" then i test it out on a few people, friends who produce to listen to the mix and see if they think anything needs changing. you can tell from the instant reaction if people like it or not. they might say they like it but if theyre not nodding their head, they arent feeling it.

setup a "google alert" for your name so everytime someone mentions you on the internet, etc... you get an email

I will do that, in the vain hope that someone will mention it.
Re: How do you know?????
i know a song is good, because when i make it, i only put good stuff in. then when it's done, i throw it in a mix and put that on my mp3 player. after i've heard it 15 times w/ other songs, i know if there are any adjustments that need to be made. then i make those, and it's done.
Re: How do you know?????
i remember in a flylo interview where he was asked this and, he said some thing like "i know a tune is done when i can hear sound all around me. if i can hear sounds behind me then i know it is done"
i just let thwm sit on my hd for some months then come back and listen to them when i become disattached from them.

Re: How do you know?????
Along the same lines as Pédro Sanchez above... I don't always know when it's done, but I do know when it's in the zone when I get my own song stuck in my head. That's a good sign.
