My long winded point is ignore those who say "its shit" without giving reasons to back up why and value those who are genuinely trying to be constructive.

^^^ Spot on. If people genuinely know what they're talking about, they'll usually give suggestions as to how to make it better ('better' of course being entirely subjective)

(I gave what I thought was constructive criticism on a tune I heard on another forum this morning. 20mins later the producer emailed me thanking me for my comments, and offering me the remix pack if I'd like to have a crack at things myself 8) )

@wub: Niceness rubs off on people in this game. Frankness is good too, but you have to learn to roll with the punches, which I am starting to.

my problem is all the homies i show my song to they all really dig it, but i dont get much more than "duude thats sooo fucking siiiiick" or they might point out something about the song that im already aware i need to fix or work on.

2 weeks ago...I droped the tune at the club and the dancefloor went insane....

that is how I knew I had a good tune on my hands.

after a while you'll figure out whats going to work ahead of time, and that is what being an experienced producer has to offer

if you keep plugging away, you'll eventually have a series of breakthroughs and the quality of your work will begin to exponentially accelerate

but step one is to stop looking to other people for validation becuase: A. it's never going to satisfy you and B. it really doesn't matter what people think and C. people can be dicks lol

keep your head down and keep making music.. resurface only when you have become a soundsystem samurai

my 2 cents
dubs forum is shit tbh
can i get a 320 mate?im 15 and been producing 3 days peep my tunes! etc
why i try to not give critque on a forum but more on aim and on a personal level, brutally honest is what i prefer and what i dish out too.

That...

but my initial point was unless they can sight what they dont like about it, its probably a personal taste thing which you just cant help. Alot of what I make irks the medi heads, but, its only when they can say something real about it, like its not suffled enough, or this is too loud, ect. that I take em for a grain of salt.

i have no problem telling someone a tune isn't my style, but if it's produced well or poorly in some aspect i'll tell them as well.
