Haven't made a good one yet. It takes me a long long time to detach from a track to the point where I can actually hear it.

when you get rid of your ego and just do what your mind, body and soul wants to do... No matter if it's original or not.
When you're proud it's done.

on this topic... just finished a tune, i'm SUPER psyched about it.. the process was like this... got an idea for a tune, and was totally stoked.. started implementing idea, got more stoked.. added more and more shit.. recorded some vocals... even MORE stoked.. rendered it and danced my ass off to it... totally frikkin balls to the wall stoked.. that's how you know when you have a good tune

When the alpacas settle into a quiet state of serene calmness... I know its "there".

Seriously, its "there" when Im happy with it and dont want to change anything and really only then.

cloak and dagger wrote:I make music for myself, first and foremost. I know when a tune is good when I'm happy with it, enjoy listening to it, and there's nothing I want to change. There have been times where I've listened to a tune 6 months later and changed a few things, but that's usually because there was something I wasn't 100% happy with in the first place and I finally decided I wanted to make the track stronger.

Basically, I make music I like, so if I love it, then I know it's good. It's always good to hear that other people are enjoy it as well.

this, pretty much word for word :4:

When you are tempted to say you have finished - render off the tune and then try to ignore it for a few days
Then listen to it again - if you are filled with joy then you go girl
If you just hear mistakes - remix - refix - reimagine

Personally I know when I'm not 2nd guessing on any parts. When I am satisfied with all elements and not umm-ing and ahh-ing.

we decide among ourselves...making tunes with another person helps.

Yeah but it's having that person to collaborate with.

I've never felt that a tune is finished, only that I've had enough of it haha.

might be a bit of an odd thing to say, but if a tune can make you laugh from the work you've put into it - I find thats quite a good indicator

I'm a real critic when it comes to music. Too be onest, i like just 10% of every music brought out.
The same goes for my own tunes. So if i'm nodding my head to my finished tune and i have nothing left to
put in or change, i know it's done. When i like it, i know more people will. And i like 1% of the tunes i make..
