Mac With Logic?

Post by Dropkick_Kid » Wed Mar 03, 2010 6:23 pm

Ok since my laptop broke down the other day (oldish anyway),
I've been thinking of investing in a mac and possibly logic pro.
Stuck in two minds over it, really need a deciding factor in this argument in my head lol.
Pro's and con's of a mac with logic please.
Much appreciated in advance.
Safe

+Mac's don't crash or get viruses
+Logic kicks ass

-It's expensive

I think that sums it up pretty well.

I run logic on a macbook with a 2.4ghz core 2 duo and 2gb just fine. I can get about 20 vst tracks out of it at a push.

I think i'll be going for a 2gb then, the preset synths are logic are good as they are aren't they so i won't be needing any vst's in a rush will i?

No you can make great tunes right out of the box with logic, great effects too.

Macs can get viruses/malware although its very rare and Macs have and can crash, such an example is the kernal panic which can happen on OSX.

I get about 1 Kernal panic a week, but its due to me rigging like 3 external HD's together via firewire also using an 800 to 400 adapter.

lol, yeh they do crash, seem's to be a whole lot less than p.c's though and a bit more sporadic :?

I've got a pp5 quad with 4 gb of ram running logic 9, couldn't be happier tbh,

On some tunes I've been running up to 30/40 synth's/au (audio units, logic doesn't run vst without some form of wrapping program)

and even then it could keep going, then again you could always get a lower specced mac and invest in some uad cards if you really wanna take the piss with effects
