Don't really follow the scene much anymore, but back in the days nothing really come close (for me) to Jel, Alias, Odd Nosdam, Buck 65, Prefuse 73, Blue Sky Black Death, The Oktopus (Dälek's producer), Prefuse 73, edIT, Dilla, Boom Bip, Yoni Wolf (a fucking GOD when it comes to layering instruments), Fog, some of DJ /rupture's 'illbient' productions, Daedelus, Sixtoo, Earl Blaize... Shit, the list goes on. Although to be honest, pretty much all of this list wouldn't be considered remotely experimental/abstract these days. For the new shit it has to be Fly Lo, out on a massive dilla vibe. As much as I love 50% of Hud Mo's productions, there's loads that I really can't get in to, and even more that I flat out dislike, particularly anything with shitty vocalists (the Ooops! EP springs to mind, although 'Still On It' is probably my favourite track he's done). Been enjoying half of Rustie's productions as of late too, Kuedo's EP is absolutely incredible. Been really vibing to Loops Haunt and Harmonic 313 recently too. Got a new found love for Nosaj Thing though, if it can be considered hip-hop. Drift is one of my favourite albums of the past few years, been getting huge amounts of play.

Most of it's far too geeky for me but i really appreciate what the Lucky Me camp are doing. They seem to maintain the funk without being overly clever.

Yeah I could never get in to the Sebutones album. Loved most things Buck and Sixtoo have put out, but it was all just a little too geeky when they came together. Proper white boy student hip-hop.
