parrell compression on other things apart form the drums?
Just wondering does anybody use parrell compression for other things apart form the drums?, or maybe not even compression but a another auxiliary playing out some kind of distorted version of the unprocessed sound that is also playing out.
I was thinking about trying it with lead lines next time I get a chance

It works with whatever sounds good to you.
No rules involved.
I like to parallel compress bandpassed distorted basslines (midrange cack).

Re: parrell compression on other things apart form the drums?
yeah excellent on certain vocals.
i'll draw for parallel comp if i have source material that's got really exciting moments that are really high and low in volume, and i want to increase the consistency but not change their relationship. parallel comp and some limiting afterwards can make for a really nice balance.

In my experience I've found it useful on: -
Guitar (acoustic)
Electric Guitar
Drums
Bass Guitar
Synth's
Vocals
Entire Mixes
Sub Groups
I've also found that it is sometimes useless on the following:-

Interesting. Am working with come vocals current and might try this out, never thought of using parallel comp on this waySharmaji wrote:yeah excellent on certain vocals.

Re: parrell compression on other things apart form the drums?
it´s a known fact that paradigm compression is the only way to go..use that for your padz, too
Re: parrell compression on other things apart form the drums?
Yeah get creative man, sometimes i add an axillary with distortion, and automate certain sends to it when making a track, like for rises and breakdowns etc...
