Stupid (loving) parents :(

The first time I ever stayed out past midnight was first year uni and it was until 4am at a friend's dorm. Was before my family all got cellphones, so they couldn't call me, and they went out driving for three hours looking for me, cuz they ddnt know what else to do. They got super mad at me at the time and I got super mad back at them at the time, but now I look back at it as an endearing gesture that really showed how much they love(d) me.

I don't suppose I'll ever have a 100% appreciation for how they felt until my kid stays out till 4...

Whenever I go out, because there's no good public transport in Dorset, I always stay at people's houses. My mum doesn't really mind but she always asks for the person's home number just incase anything happens. It can be annoying to have to ask my mates for their home number and stuff. But I always thought that it was just my mum being over protective until recently when I realise that most of my mates parents ask for it too!

When I went on a really bad trip I came home at the peak and was talking to my mum about it while I was on it. That shook her up a bit. I also ate 270 liberty caps and threw up blood and undigested mushrooms all down the stairs in my house which set her off on a panic attack.

My mum put up with a lot. She did kick me out at one point though.

First I ever tried shrooms I had 50 maybe 60 liberty caps, tripping fucking balls, after a while I went home, saw my mum, explained to her I'd had some shrooms and she was ok with it, jus didn't want me hanging round with the guy who supplied them... the worst one was when we set off for the sunday market, and as we left, the cops pulled up and my mums looking in her rear view mirror, so she went back, and they took one look at me and was like yep, he's wearing exactly the same as the description... was out bombing the night before, I was only 13/14...

Other than that, jus usualy shit that's got me grounded like stealing and school related shit...

I got threatened that I'd be kicked out if I didn't get atleast 6 C's or above, basically if I didn't get into 6th form...

I got 4 and a half c's and 1 B, and managed to blag my way in... I actually cried when I got my results cos I thought I was homeless, FML.

Never rebelled or did very bad things. Worst my parents ever found was a pack of camels and some rolling papers (small ones).
Never came home drunk (since I'm never drunk ) although I came home a few times high as a kite but they didn't even notice that. If they would've noticed it they would've want to talk about it, at least my mother would.

Also 17 and my parents don't have any trouble with me going somewhere and coming home in the morning by the first bus or train. Even if it's in "dangerous" neighbourhoods like borgerhout or bxl-midi so I can praise myself lucky

A small benefit of having your parents separated is if your in the dog house with one, just go to the other.

I was a rebellious dick to them for a long time. I realize now that they just want what's best for me and I love them for it, I'm gonna be crushed when they're gone.

im seventeen too, after bein a rebel for a while they just stopped givin a fuck. but the best thing to do i think is to gain their trust and just be on their good side at all times. they prolly wont stop givin a fuck but they might be a bit more flexable with things if you talk to them about it. Like "hey ma, pa is it cool if i go to my friends pad n watch some movies?" and when they ask what time youll be home try givin em an honest answer, by sayin like 1 or 2, but then follow up n say "but i will call you if im going to be later" i mean like word it how your parents would like to hear it, i mean after all you known them your whole life so you probly know what they wanna hear. Always follow up with thanks and when taking know for an answer come through with " i understand" parents like it when their kids understand haha.

But fer realz dawg i dont think your parents are fuckin with you and im sure they care. I had friends whos parents didnt care about em and it was really obvious. The best way to get anything done is to be completely honest, in all cases. Trust is power.

I pretty much have their trust: i told them that occasionally i smoke a joint with, and that i'm fascinated by psychedelics but not really heavy into it, and they can pretty much accept that.

I'm always very responsible and they know it! I'm always home when they ask me to..
But all they do is whining about my grades and my music.... And my grades aren't even bad

I got what you mean man, your parents really do give a fuck then. I had a bunch of friends with parents like that, they just want whats best for you. You are going to have a good future because of it, and your gonna be happy they did all that for you.

my parents gave up a while back and ive been facing a lot of this ^^ Im pretty much a room mate to them, except they pay for stuff. It kinda sucks never being told what to do. Im jealous of what you have to be honest.

This is all very cool and groovy, however there is another factor that's been missed. I'm not saying this is going to happen but your parents will also worry that you may well get into any of the following serious scenarios-
Get into a fight in which you will unwittingly get your head kicked in,
get into someone else's car and get thrown out the rear window in a crash, or get run over.
This is what parents do, they worry because they care. Enjoy this blanket of love and security, it may seem to you like a pain in the arse but you'll appreciate the mild discipline when you come to strike out on your own.

Some people's parents are fucked up, tho. I'm lucky, mine are wonderful.

sometimes i'm happy to have my father in a foreign country so my stepfather isn't really the one to tell me what to do or what not at home.
my mother is actually the only person at home who can keep control over me and she's pretty flexible.
i remember her dropping me off at an illegal rave by car when i was 15 telling me to watch out for the cops and be safe in general.
