Croydon is the new Detroit
Re: Croydon is the new Detroit
Detroit sucks big sweaty donkey balls despite its wonderful musical contributions going back 40+ years. There's a reason there are so many abandoned houses there.

Dire environments breed incredible art, comfort breeds chin-stroking and critically approved dreck...

Re: Croydon is the new Detroit
Really enjoyed the article, I think South London would be more suited to being the new Detroit because of the history of bass culture and the development of it within that part of london. From old skool to jungle to dnb to breaks to garage/2 step to grime to dubstep, the roots are firmly based in south london (not exclusivly mind) and I think it would be true to say that the dubstep scene is a result of that legacy.
