Keep on hustlin bruv, there's always more that can be done in terms of self promotion and getting heard. I wouldn't consider us to be big name dj's but we get sent around 30-40 tunes a week and we do our best to listen to them all. We havn't got time to report back all the time but if we like the tunes we'll play them.

This game isn't easy by any means, but if you feel it in your heart then keep on keeping on, get yourself out there as much as possible, a radio show is a great way to make a mark and build a fanbase.

Good luck with it mate!

I also get stupid amounts of tunes sent from people i'v never heard of via AIM/Dropbox ect
but i still find time to get back to each person individually and let them know if i like the tune & if not, why not.

I see this as my duty, seeing as people are sharing their music with me.
I'd kinda expect it if i were to send my tune to someone else

why should this not be the same for bigger names?

I think the key is to be very very sure who you're sending your tunes to.
Don't try and give them to everybody, because they won't be special any more. Don't give them to nobody, cos then your music will get nowhere. It needs to get out to be heard and for it to spread.

Give your music to good DJs who you've got something in common with. If you make ultra-filth wobble, why bother sending all your 320s to Ramadanman and then crying when he doesn't respond or play them out?

There's enough quality C, D, E, F and G list DJs in this scene to send your music to and get your name out there without having to only send your tunes to N-Type, etc etc.

"FREE EP/LP DOWNLOAD IN CAPITAL LETTERS - 320 - FEEDBACK PLZ" is not the way to go either.

I reckon if you persist your tracks will be heard! That simple really.

I have the opposite problem though; get 4-7 gigs every month, but don't get any tunes sent to me lol, feel free to send some through.

If I got sent something that I like thats from someone that's not an established name, I would play that as opposed to something from a huge established name.

The very best form of promotion must be word of mouth, if someone recommends your music then it will get heard. Like someone else said, make a breakthough with maybe a slightly lesser known artist/DJ and if your music is good enough the word will spread. :D
