I haven't got a clue what's happening with the scene, I just browse around this place, chemical records and youtube until I find something I like. When I first was getting into dubstep I used to listen to what people were talking about at school/college but now I subconsciously block out any words beyond 'dubstep' in conversation, really it gets bad sometimes
How does I wobbled bass?

yeah, just listen to DSF and go to parties every once in a while to see what local DJ's are feeling, and you'll be pretty up on what's happening as long as you pay attention

I gave up on being "current" because its too subjective of a term. Whats "current" to you may be old to someone else and vice versa depending on your position in the scene and who you know. That tune Skream just released may be old to him and whoever he shares with, old to people who hear him on a regular, and new to everyone else. Likewise, the stuff getting played by locals in LA could be old to me, but new to people in the UK.
I just make sure I dig what Im playing, its too easy to get caught up in an "arms race" of new tunes trying to keep up with whats hot and new... just make sure its quality regardless of age.
