Albino or Massive??

Post by Pony Boy » Tue Mar 16, 2010 7:58 am

Hey guys I use logic 8 for my production and while I love the es2, I'm really tempted to get a new vst to work with. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go with Albino or Massive, so could someone who has experience with BOTH give me their opinion? any other vsts that I should consider?

You can't really go wrong with either. Try them out if you can (I'm pretty sure both have demos) and see which one has a more intuitive interface for you. I personally prefer Albino because I like the interface more and seem to be able to come up with a lot more interesting sounds than Massive.

As for other synths, Vember Audio Surge is my favorite "do everything" synth. In terms of interface, absolutely nothing beats FAW Circle; it should be the standard to which all softsynths are judged these days. I also hear great things about U-he Ace and Zebra 2.

I have experience with both. Both are dope, both sound different. I will honestly say that I think massive is more versatile, more deep, has a few more features, and has a better ui. Massive hogs cpu though, no joke man, on those really heavy patches I seem to cook up, high cpu.

Without knowing you or anything about u, I think you should stick with your stock synth for a while.

this. it's a joke how bad massive can be and on my old comp i just couldnt use it as some patched would literally crash fl studio. I use Albino personally, i thought that Massive was too complicated and Albino produces a softer sound which is what i like.

the sounds ya can come up with in massive are ummm....massive!! albino is pretty chea, but i find it abit tinny & ya need to double/triple up EQed tracks to phatn it & use alot mo efx to bang it into shape. if your looking for a real good synth, i would go with NI's absynth. i have a couple of bros who wont touch anything bar logics native stuff, they have become masters of sidechaining & using mad aux sends, creating crazi sounds. its all up to you...how deep are ya pockets???chea

depends on the sound youre going after. albino is versatile and easy to program, it has a nice sound and you can certainly write some heavy shit with it. massive does a lot well but you cant deny that you can whip up some raw power bass with it, plus the performance sequencer is sick.

I personally like NI better than Rob Papen overall. personally i use FM8 more than both of these.

i used to be down with massive but now sylenth has taken over my life.

apart from using the operator to get a simple sine sub bass, its the only synth i use now

both. massive has far more interesting routing, albino has the better arpeggiator.

i own both, been using albino for ages, love it well warm, easy to program sounds great. Not had massive long (part of komplete) but not really feeling it tbh, sounds really digital, harsh and clinical, it is the sound of dubstep (brostep) tho lol.

Some of what Massive can do IS brostep, but massive has a lot of depth beyond that sound.

Re gladiator, total dark horse synth. It's filters sound good. And some strange sounds can be made in there. But it's dev is a dick and does some pretty invasive things to your system. Things that a synth install shouldn't do.
