Yo upstate...

Don't be sarcy. Every key word that pops up in this thread I google instantly.
It's got me no closer to finding Formant Filters so I'm asking for help.

but fuck me I had fun playing with the knobs telling me they want to attack and release me....

now i know what all means and does, and i'm so fucking happy i had this time of my prodcution 'career' just trying to figure out what everything means. that's how I REALLY understood music production. when you turn the knob and hear what happens. rather than ask what happens.

i wish more people would just let the internet come later.

and god bless the search button.
exactly the same for me. i made very little progress production wise for the first 2 years until i got my internet installed. then after that discovered sound on sound, computer music etc

ive posted an awful lot on dsf since getting the net 2 years ago, but ive never felt the need to ask any questions here as i can find the answer myself so much quicker

Never understood this, as i find the sub heavy dubstep to be just as repetitive.
yeah! Been waiting for someone to say this, tbf the drums in sub heavy dub are alot more interesting than mid range dirty bassline tunes tho i guess

Totally depends, yeah a shitload of artists just use kick on the 1, snare on the 3 but listen to guys like Reso and Tomba and they have some amazing drum patterns.

Wheres the groove gone?????
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

Not at all. It is only exciting to people who dont know better lol. It has ruined Dubstep imo. Too much Techno and Breakcore shit going on right now for me. Also all the shit parts from DnB have taken over Dubstep.

I dont even hear any good Techno influenced Dubstep. It is like new style shit Techno and Dubstep mixed together but the worst from both :u:

The sound from 04/05 was exciting.

peep some temper d
or just dig deeper when tune shopping
i find half my tunes worth a damn by just hitting garage or whatever mass catagory dubstep is lumped in with on juno and ignoring names attached to tunes

never really wanted to take side, athough it's obvious from my posts.
but really, when i ehar this sea of new wave stuff i find it very boring and all quite the same.
where has all the experimenting gone? it's just all quite the same sound. reminds me of the recent drum n bass stuff. just formulas are being reproduced a thousand times.

well. i have to admit, i never really digged that deep into the new wave, filth or whatever you call it thing... just isn't my kind of music because i come from the whole reggae thing. and for me dubstep, or bass music in general is all about bass and interesting beats, athmospheres and meditation.

if I want midrange, i listen to punkrock

still, repsect for each and every. it's just my opinion and not saying this is worse than that. just not my cup of tea

the vast majority of newcomers to the scene are being introduced to that kind of sound, its only natural for there to be a massive influx of it really.

the bitcrushed, FM type yoy wubs etc used to annoy the hell out of me, ive learned to accept and also enjoy it now (some of it anyway) :D
