My BadBoy! Setup is on its way. Serious business now.

Post by GV1 » Thu Mar 18, 2010 7:49 pm

Just placed my order. Cost me just over £12,000. And it was spent on one package ... Mac Pro!

x2 2.93GHz Quad Core Intel
32 GB Ram
2TB Sata HDD
4x NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512MB
x2 Apple 30" LED Displays

The thing is a beast! Got a huge payment through so I just went mad with it. Will stick up some images when it arrives. Took me about a day for the order to go through because the bank had to confirm I was spending that much cash and stuff.

Im fully excited. The machine itself cost me £9,500 but decided to buy legit software and some other bits and get myself a Triton.

I feel like I want to just go to sleep and not wake up until it arrives.

12,000 can buy you some prime real-estate in Middlesborough.

Nice, but you are a fool if you bought 32GB of RAM from Apple.

Nah it wont just be used for music, although that's the main use. I do apple software and iphone development so just want something rapid when compiling large projects.

I would hope it's not just for music, otherwise you are going to have a good £6000 worth of gear remaining cold. :w:

For 12k he could get:

Highend PC, a mac book Pro, 2 nice synth (like virus ti , a moog etc.), a mixing console, High end soundcard, good Monitors + headphones, a bunch of software.
Btw 32gb ddr3 costing about 1200 euro new vs 3300 euro in the apple store.

But if the OP is happy with it ....

Does Xcode compile using openCL? If not, I can't imagine when you would ever use those graphics cards unless you're going to be playing Crysis on two monitors.
