Any Suggestions? : Mixing Distance - Beyond

Post by joeki » Fri Mar 19, 2010 2:09 pm

I need to have this tune in my sets but I can't seem to find any tune to mix it out with.
The high tones (melodies if you will) really stick out and I can't find any tune that will do the trick sufficiently.
Any help would be appreciated for this noob.

Check any Youngsta set from the last 6 months, played pretty much every show and mixes flawlessly everytime.

that's the tune I am using now. It's not perfect (the same could be said off the skillz though)

I will check youngsta's set out

I used it as an intro for a mix I did today, with Think Ur Greezy coming out the end of it.

Cyrus - Space Cadet.

The kicks / snares in the last 32 bars of beyond are pretty much identical to space cadet.

I found it mixes really nicely with Mala - Level 9.

Breakage - Higher.. sounds so sick if you get it right ;)

Zarif - Over (Breakage Remix) goes pretty well too.

Yeah, going into the Distance from that track is fucking amazing. However I wasn't gonna mention it as it's a nice little secret, but you did so I'll have to agree.

Not that it matters as the vast majority of what I've got is too agressive and nasty to fit those two in.

EDIT: Wait, that's Dutty Switch. We've discussed this before outside of the board before. haha

Goes into; Komonazmuk - You Fo' quite nicely too.
Higher is probs my best outcome so far though.

me and you would fit perfectly for a b2b! sick track selection, exactly my kinda shit.

as for mixing with beyond, i dont even have it (yet) but i reckon it would mix really well with sp:mc & joker d - the future

So I've tried a few things out. Don't have Level 9 so can't test with that. I do have the breakage album.
Big up on the 'higher' heads up. For now I'll stick with Flip the Coin as I've somewhat perfected it.
Will have to get that cyrus tune, it's a banger haven't got it yet though.

If I'm playing a more agressive set I'm using Emalkay - Battle Suit by the way. A bit tricky but it will work.
