seeing caspa live last night got me thinking

Post by rinseballs21 » Mon Mar 22, 2010 2:07 am

caspa threw down one of his best sets ever last night, and it was in california in front of 10,000 ravers haha

caspas mixing was really good, only had like 3 rewinds which is low considering what others who saw caspa had told me

this wasn't a shackelton or james blake type set obviously, but this night showed me what potential GOOD HYPE DUBSTEP has.

there is nothing better than that chest rattling of some heavy basslines, everyone with that "smells like piss" face on, and just getting lost. CASPA dropped TROLLEY SNATCHA - WE ROCK THE FOREST (OMG)

as long as good names like jakes, trolley snatcha, and caspa etc. are pushing this sound, i see no reason for this whole argument about hype and experimental sounds.

i believe hype has its limit, that border between heavy basslines and detuned noise.

i believe hype and experimental should co exist.

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

i definately agree with you.

the whole dub police crew like caspa, trolley snatcha and subscape plus the circus crew like doctor p and flux pavilion are all pushing really heavy, yet melodic stuff. but its not the same toneless drivel that is being pushed about by others, but it can still make you skank like you've never skanked before.

It all depends on what you call hard. I don't think the artists you listed are particularly 'hard'.

Last time I saw Caspa in February, he sucked major ass. All too predictable and poorly mixed (perhaps he was too drunk).
Tes La Rok blew him off the stage quality and tune wize.

honestly, in a genre that was built upon the intent of merging styles and having a variety of sounds come together;
all styles of dubstep should coexist. but good luck explaining that to dubstepforum. :i:
