i bought my first ever mp3 (of any genre), anti war dub, from bleep last nite. It was quite nerve racking.
even though it was only a few dollars and I knew it was well worth it I still had my concerns
"what if I lose my connection?" etc. (I'm on a wireess network)
It felt like going to a record store and having the clerk hand you the cd/vinyl to you really really slowly even after you paid for it! Even then, he still had the option of snatching it back, keeping your money and pretending he had never seen you. BUT, it wasn't like that at all. I got my 320 and it is wicked. Well worth it. The best part about it is I know I'm supporting a head that loves making the music as much as I like listening to it. No artifice, no bullshit. Just appreciation of the sound.
how many people buy dubstep mp3s
woord
I buy stuff of http://www.Bleep.com regularly, also lotsa stuff from http://www.dubplate.net... I hate that bleep are so slow on stuff (or is it the labels?) I think theres a place for any sort of format of music, vinyl will never die and totally rules, I just cant afford it... 320 mp3s are good enough to play on any system imho, FLAC=amazing for classical music ... but yeah MP3/WAV/FLAC .. we need more labels sorting out digital downloads... but I guess it's #1 about selling the wax ....
Still waiting on DMZ010 Mala - Left Leg Out... DMZ011 is already out but bleep don't have 010 still.... same goes for the new BOKA stuff... BOKA010 and BOKA011 are out, but not on bleep...
and gotta say theres bare labels that I really really wish went digital... Southside Dubstars, Dub Police to mention but a few...
also worth checking is Addictech
But yeah I'm glad nowadays theres another way to mix than vinyl, I couldn't be a DJ myself without being able to play out 320 mp3s with my laptop+controller, perfectly happy working that way as due to economic reasons there is no other for me....
What I do always keep bitchin about tho is how there is virtually no PROPA GRIME on digital downloads to buy.... I wanna put my pennies on old Wiley instru's, all the east-london sickness that's been coming out on vinyl the past 5 years... would gladly pay for a lot of that stuff and throw it in dubstep sets, but not possible... really sucks, as I love Grime just as much as I love my Dubstep... n think they fit perfect together when mixed correct!

I buy alot of mp3's off bleep. I wish they would updage their "road"section more often to make it easier to find the dubstep. Otherwise I have to go through all the labels each week and see what has secretly been added. Personally, I think this whole thing of keeping music exlusive and regional is just really tired and anti-productive. Can you imagine if painters did that? "I just spent loads of time on this painting, but sorry, only people in my end of the city are aloud to see it, let alone buy it." Free up the music.
