ATOMLY (Atomiq Records - Berlin, Chicago)

A dedicated programming geek, Atomly was one of the first producers to make the move from gear to laptop performances, composing tracks amidst a matrix of ones and zeros. But technique has little to do with the powerful sound that comes from his tiny computer (dwarfed even further by his 6’8” frame). He has appeared across the US as well as having logged several European tours and has performed with cutting edge artists as diverse as Brothomstates (Warp), Venetian Snares (Planet Mu), Sutekh (Force Inc.) and L’usine (Ghostly International). His music and remixes have appeared on his own Atomiq Records as well as releases from domestic DrumnBass label Fear and New York avant-electronic imprint, Carpark.
“There's a certain type of pretentious dickhead who will waste 15 minutes of your time spewing every adjective in the English lexicon when you ask him what he plays. But what he's really trying to say is: "it's too cool for words, man, you probably wouldn't get it." Atomly wouldn't do that, but he should be allowed to. The 25 year-old Chicagoan has already pushed the bounds of genres from d&b to IDM to micro-house, with more finesse than many veteran producers. ”
