We have been asked to pen a track for an advert and was wondering what sort of revenue protection anyone has used before for something like this.

White: Broke DJs - Dub On The Motorway
White: Broke DJs - Americano
PLT002: Broke DJs - Personal/Personal (Riskotheque & Marchmellow Remix)

Re: @ Producers who have created music for ads
havent done this myself, but heres some tips.
firstly sign up to PRS, MCPS and PPL. They are collection agencies which distribute royalties.
Ensure u have someone (preferably a lawyer) look over the contract so you know the terms and territory of the location. I.e where is the advert going to be aired (uk only, worldwide, tv, radio) and for how long they have rights to use your song for. DO NOT sign the rights of the song over to the company, even if it seems like a good deal, this will essential fuck you out of any royalties you will be entitled to. Imagine a case in which you sign your rights over, then the advert gets aired often all over the world, you will no longer be entitled to any royalties if you sign the copyright over.
hope this helps, im sure there are people on here who have more practical experience with this and will probably have better advice!

Thanks much appreciated. Is a new output for us so pretty excited about doing it but want to make sure the whole process is water tight.

Re: @ Producers who have created music for ads
nice man, yeah i mean the big thing is making sure you understand your rights and your signed up to the collection agencies. All monies (well the vast majority) generated in the music industry are generated from ownership of copyrights, so yeah, make sure you know where you stand and that they dont try n fuck you over just cause its your first time doing this sort of thing.
BASCA is another good place to join, you can send them any contract you recieve and they'll have one of their legal representatives look at it for you to make sure its all kosher, this might be a good option if your unsure and cant afford a lawyer(lets face it, who can)
