Seems like you could do that with just one Sampler, yeah?

3 Simplers in an Instrument Rack is how I roll most of time...

Then I resample into sampler :)

The Ableton Sampler is one of the best things about using ableton - its rock solid and SO flexible ... nowadays I just go and record any old randomness and stick it in the sampler - tweak for long enough and the world is your oyster!

Simpler is great too but for sheer twistability it has to be the sampler :z:

How about simpler and sampler in a drumrack layered using a instrument rack?

HUH? Why? Not understanding how you are using.

I've been wondering about this lately. Is sampler worth the $130 or can I use simpler to get mostbasic things done that people are doing here with resampling.

My other question is time stretching a sample....simpler doesn't have sample start but sampler does however from what I've seen you can't set up an lfo to sample start to get it to turn and thus stretch smoothly.

I can do this in reason with their simpler equivalent nn19 though...

Its just layering drumracks using a instrument rack. ;) Drumrack pads contain simplers by default. But you can also drag n drop a sampler (or any synths) on the pads.

couldn't you just drop the sample onto an audio track, time stretch it there and then drag it into a simpler?

i might be misunderstanding what you;re talking about...

looks like i need to get onto this. i use the drum rack extensively, normally at least 3 for every tune; one for kicks and snares, one for hihats and percussion and another for random hits. i love the way you can add a global effect and then ones for each individual pads

heres a toast to the built in ableton instruments :Y:

I don know, I'm actually looking for a way to time stretch a song in realtime with a knob for djing....

I got mine w/ Ableton Suite, so it's hard to determine worth.

I will say this, if you use a lot of multi-sampled instruments, it may be worth it. It's also really powerful for sound design too. I use simpler, maybe 90% of the time. I like it.

It is not possible to time-stretch samples in Simpler or Sampler. My work around would be to play it all out at one note (not changing pitch), then bounce to audio. Then, cut the audio you want to timestretch. For each place you want to stretch up or down, make it's own separate clip and adjust the transpose (of that specific clip) up or down.
