All it means is that teenage web-warriors are into wobble. STEP AWAY FROM THE INTERNET and see what real people associate with "dubstep" - I think you might be pleasantly surprised.
How can you say "What a load of bollocks" I'm telling you that there's a lot of people that think dubstep is all 'jump up' (Have I in any way said that this is the case for everyone? no). I'm not talking of my arse here, maybe you and all the people you associate with in life are clued up on music but a lot of people I see every day at work, in town etc haven't got a clue.
All in my head? don't patronize me, I wasn't saying that everyone sees dubstep in this way.
There's nothing patronising about calling bollocks when you're talking bollocks.

You claimed that typing "dubstep" into YouTube gives you loads of wobbler shit - I tried it and you were totally wrong.

You claim most people you see every day "don't have a clue" about dubstep - maybe true, but I very much doubt the majority of people you talked to would say "yeah midrange and comedy samples" if you asked them what dubstep meant. Or maybe that is what they said to you. Is it? No of course it's not.

You're just wrong.

Most music fans think dubstep means Burial Skream Benga Joker Caspa Rusko Joy Orbison Breakage... THEY DON'T THINK IT MEANS LAIRY WOBBLERS.
I was referring to you saying it is all in my head.
Why are you telling me that I'm talking bollocks? I am telling you that a lot of people I speak to really don't no the variety in dubstep. Yes they will know skream, benga, caspa, rusko, but they will only really know their dirty wobble tunes that In my opinion most of the time sound shit, you will still see all these comments on these tunes by the artists stated above.
You seem to be telling me how these conversations have gone between me and some of these people I have spoke to but I really don't understand considering you weren't there.

Youtube is changing all the time, when i typed in dubstep a few months ago the results honesty were pure and utter shit.

i had an interesting thought just now
yes its stupid of all the new producers jumping on what the current big sound is
but do you not think the way the dubstep scene is structured enforces this?
i mean how you got the inner circle (dmz, skream, hatcha etc)

it's hard for someone new to break into this, unless your mates with those lot, or have been around from the start, or you actually have an amazing unique sound, people like joy orb and vivek
so everyone else is left with no real choice if they want to break into the scene

It's a fair point. But this is the whole problem. I personally like some of the RAAR RAAR jump up stuff...but don't really bother searching for it (to buy) as 9 out of 10 tracks are wank. Whereas the stuff that isn't jump up is the other way 9 out of 10 tracks are good. The better producers, making the better quality of Dubstep don't do jump up. (I'm not dissing those that do, as there are still some great producers that do..).

We need a Dubstep moderator. Someone to listen to all releases and slap a sticker on the terrible ones ready "NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION"....Any takers?
I don't turn on Korn to get it on, I be playin Digi Mystikz 'til the dawn

yes we need a dubstep moderator like the equivalent of ofcom :D

- banning dire tracks
- monitoring youtube and removing said videos
- upholding mass requests for a particularly good track to be released from the past (skream you'd be in trouble :) )
- supporting good artists in releasing more material
- monitoring standards at pressing plants etc
- stop jack sparrow, quest leaving!!!

shit i sound like a facist now. yawn

Though if I'm honest...none of this really bothers me...

I don't search for tunes on Youtube. I only go to nights with DJ's I'm interested in, and only buy stuff I like. All this rubbish stuff people talk about never really crosses my path. Spose I should count myself lucky.

He might get bottled though.
true, but if someone bottled him for expressing an opinion about what music he doesnt like on a forum, they would be on a mad tnuc ting
I don't think I read the words "In My Opinion..." in Robs rant, do you? Rob can say what he wants, true; but what does he gain from it? - the people who liked him, still like him, the people who didn't like him ,still don't like him, and a bunch of producers now hate him. i can't see any reason to do that to yourself.

i didn't get through all of these pages, but saw a few comments about just getting into the scene with a jumpup/wobble release. i don't think that's the way. i've been learning to DJ for over a year now, but haven't practiced much at all until recently. i'm not going to go out and sell myself at this point. i have to practice quite a bit more and record something good. apparantly a lot of people are just going through the youtube tutorials and step by step instructions on the forums, spending less than a week writing something, and actually getting it released. if i was going to produce, the only thing i'd want is help finding certain files since vinyl keeps me broke. it would take a lot longer than a week for me to write just one track, too! so what if nobody will sign it? start your own label! try the digital labels. or keep it, make more, then put your tracks in your mixes and that's the way...but maybe i don't really know. :p

If there was a dubstepforum union or something, maybe we could lobby Coki into releasing some dubplates. Send round a petition.
