Ok I know I've stood up for midrange a fair bit on here in the past and ill hold my hand up to writing the odd turkey but looking at the VINYL chemical weekly sales chart over the last few days has been fucking depressing. Ok all you new producers want to make an impact on the scene and understand that the doors of many established labels are well and truly closed so are going for a real loud in your face sound to get yourself noticed but does it really have to sound SO FUCKING STOOOOPID??

Then theres established names still doing the same old crap as well that sounds pretty fucking stoopid too, I mean I don't have a problem with harsh sounds at all but all this drunk wobble portamento albinoish wobbly basses sliding all over the place like a plastered hobo, the bitcrushed doh-doh's borrowed straight from the most disposable kind of DNB or worst of all the clowny stupid vocals just b4 a drop - big he-man 'huhs' or stupid laughs, real fucking retarded kids TV shite that makes me cringe listening to it as its not even funny

Is there any chance some of you guys can learn some new tricks before you fuck this scene so hard up the arse that it bleeds to death?

I think with all the new technology (mp3s, the internet, blogs etc) its become really easy to make the music. Suddenly the scene is flooded with douchebag bloggers with a flash drive full of fast, cheap and ez crap. With all the new tech its much easier to make the music so of course the scene will get diluted with a bunch of smoke and mirrors. Things have become really f*cking stoooooopid.

edit: there's still a lot of really good music coming out tho'. *do whatever you want* I'll be confident on stage with my wax, good luck with your laptop *lol* hope you dont lose you cables and wires. Hope your shit dont crash on you.

Just gone thru junodownloads today for finding some new music. the dubstep section is full of cheapest wobble crap. Makes me angry . I think I'll keep listening to new vinyl releases only, since the new vinyl releases always offer 80% listenable stuff.

Its really sad to hear that wobble has taken over most of the parties in UK even DMZ.

Bingo. All the tech and trendy blogs has got everyone whipped into a frenzy of cheap and easy fog. It don't amount to much cept for an illusion. In the mean time i'm digging through a couple crates of real records and you wont ever find someone complaining about the music I play.

news flash, drugs have always been on the scene. all the elitism is fucking boring. i love deep dubstep, and i love some tearout dirt. if you dont like it, dont listen to it. and if there is so much shit music around, it should make you all appreciate the quality that some producers are putting out.

You make a point tho, we all love dubstep and music for the most part is what makes th world go round. We are all on the same team here coming to this place to talk about the music. You are right, Since the internet is flooded with so much smoke and mirrors it does make one appreciate the goods. The challenge is not to let the emotional stuff mess you up. This is a forum also and if you can't come here and mouth off, letting off some steam than where else can you do it. this is bullshit of a high order. no one's loosing or not getting booked. just because you see 3 or 4 names on festival dates, doesn't mean that one sound is being pushed aside. please get a grasp of what you're talking about before making sweeping statements.

id say in Birmingham as an example, what he saying is very true. I'm not saying their getting a lack of bookings overall, their obviously playing other places, but locally, if one side of the sound dominates, the other looses out, and that's certainly true here.

we played in New Orleans last nite-- was a really interesting scene. Promoter, his crew, and the opening DJ's worked their butts off to make the night happen, they're bringing loads of talent into what is pretty much a previously untapped market, and they're doin everything they can to make it work.

Now with that, both the scene and the audiences down in NO appear to be so young that the bro' is the only thing they know of the dubstep. Not necesarrily their fault, if you ask "where do i go to find some dubstep songs" and someone says beatport & juno... fair enough, that's what you're gonna find.

To my ears, the 150bpm, super-hard quantized, robot death squad sound is just kinda sexless-- it's the same vibe that I generally hate about tearout breaks. But to the kids, it's exciting and brand new... can't fault 'em on that.

Eitherway, the gig went off, smiles all around, the guys who were shocking out to the bro continued to shock out and it became less of a 'oh my god this tune is sick!" party and more of a full-on, good-vibes dance party.

People will grow tired of this sound eventually, I used to love sweet shop and Doctor P when it first dropped now Im sick of hearing the same noises and think its shit, this stuff is like cheese its only good for a certain period of time then it starts to stink. Im kinda sick of all dubstep right now, just the 140 bpm/wobble/snare on the 3rd is getting old. Ive been really into mid-tempo stuff like Glitch-mob, nosaj thing and Robot Koch latley and that 170 bpm half step DNB that the Autonomic crew are doing.

his album 'trooper' is extremely diverse...played it loads.....the majority isn't wobble tbh...and the wobble stuff he does is good..
