wobble bass production trick
I recently found out how to build a sick "vocal vowel" effect for a wobble bass - either on it's own, or as a layer:
- add a 'bitcrusher' plugin after your wobble
- mess with resonance levels on filter
- mess with downsampling amount and bit resolution
*** neither have to be too extreme - here were my settings:
MASSIVE - daft filter, resonance 75% up, logic's bitcrusher @ 6 bit, 17x downsampling
-----------------------
Does anybody know of some other sick tricks for wobble? Another thread to recommend? (ie datsick's "swagga" barking effect, etc)
I know the basics - looking for over-the-top production tricks
Thanks!

Yeah I have to agree, even if the sound is rinsed it's nice to see somebody posting up info rather than asking for feedback or how to make a sound.LordBid wrote:well i suppose he is at least giving some information in an easy to understand format...

Yes I'm in the same boat. Tweaking massive and adding some bit crush on a wobble really brings out the vocal sound but all I can get is yah yah or yoh yoh. I've tried adding a formant filter and some other effects but not getting the sound I'm looking for.
I don't want to emulate datsik but am lookng for additional methods to add to my arsenal. There's a way to get more consonants so that you get bark or RAWR.
Somebody here's gotta know how to do this! Pm me if youd ratharrrr...

Heavy EQing can get different "vocalish" sounds. Play around with adding/taking away frequencies until you find what you needyamaz wrote:Yes I'm in the same boat. Tweaking massive and adding some bit crush on a wobble really brings out the vocal sound but all I can get is yah yah or yoh yoh.
I do like what Bit Crushing can do to basslines. It's nice to get a filter with a slow attack so you get that wwuuuaaaaaahrrr sound

Re: wobble bass production trick
formant filtering, bra. its ez.
Re: wobble bass production trick
What formant filter are you using? I have wow and it can oscillilate between two specific vowels...but haven't gotten it to have consonants

You mean an envelope on your bit crusher? Redux in ableton, tal bitcrusher and decimort don't have this. Do you mean a slow wobble on cutoff filter? If so are you resampling just one section to further wobble in a sampler?
