Having a hard time writing melodies for *gasp* wobbles

How do you usual prefer to move your basslines?
What are some typical progressions?

I usually rip off melodies from old video games, and twist them around a bit.

I'm asking because my best method is "learn the rules then break them."
I want to know what producers in the genre generall do so I can know how to break it
Rather than just bouncing around semi interesting riffs

You can't really break the rules anymore, they've all been broken before :(

The answer is simple... by knowing the relationships within the notes...
