James Blake - CMYK (forthcoming R&S)

Post by fractal » Mon Apr 12, 2010 6:56 am

this tune is too much!

hats off to mr blake, yet again

this vid has a low quality sample of it on it, first tune

(side note: big up James for showing beyonce some love, that song BUMPS! he knows good pop and is not afraid to bump it, just cause it's pop)

you can also hear it on dusk & blackdowns latest show (along with footnotes & a quasimoto harmonimix)

http://www.dubstepforum.com/post1725891 ... k#p1725891

or on ben ufo's lucky me mixtape

http://www.dubstepforum.com/post1689569 ... k#p1689569

supposedly coming soon, any info would be much appreciated!

I'm still not sure about James Blake, no doubt excellent producer, just something about his tunes which don't really do it for me. maybe he's a grower. I love sparing the horses at the moment. Anywho that tune seems really good, probably cause it's got a nice definite beat behind it.

Awesome track once again by James Blake indeed! The whole set (from that movie) was cool btw.

Only known info about the release:

"His ‘CMYK’ EP will be released in May with a second extended EP to follow in the summer."

Remember asking him about this tune back in Feb and said it was forthcoming soon, can't wait for a release on this.

One of my favourite producers in recent times. He brings something unique to the scene.

from a write up on beatport discussing the return of R&S

http://www.beatportal.com/feed/item/ret ... s-records/

"James Blake ‘CMYK’ EP
James is from another planet, and this will be one of the defining electronic releases of 2010. I’ve been developing James over the past year and he is about to blow up. He draws influence from the dubstep/bass scene, and with each release he continues to redefine modern electronic music with his startling arrangements and classically trained musicianship.

His ‘CMYK’ EP will be released in May with a second extended EP to follow in the summer. All four tracks are stunning, raising barriers set by the likes of Aphex Twin and Derrick May on R&S in the early ‘90s. He really is that good! Such a nice young man too."

wonder what the other 3 tunes are...

supposed to drop in may!

Getting a release on R&S so early in his production career is just staggering

R&S is timeless, one of the best labels of all time. Great that they continue releasing dubstep after the great Pariah 10".
