Hello Weedcali ! Here's some things I would point out. You have very interesting synth action in the beginning and I find it a little bit shy to be honnest. I'd really like to hear it louder. You could probably gradually increase the volume of the synth via an automation curve so that when the drops comes you have more and more tension going on and when the end of your intro comes you have that nice drop feeling. I think a nice airy sort of vocal could really find it's place in here. Maybe tweak a bit the reverb on your clap/snare. For the hole in the second part, it feels a bit too much to me like there's a skip. Maybe add a little something that still creates that effect of emptyness while creating a link just to guide your listener !

CHEERS ! :)

BlackTee - "Hibernative State"

Props:
+Well, i definitely was not expecting a 4x4 straight from the start, so ill give you element of surprise points
+pad synths are standard but tasty
+enjoyed the bit that starts at @1:31
+dreamy

Advice:
-Not to be rude (as i love all music and am no stranger to diversity), but you do realize you posted a House track in a Dubstep forum, correct?
-Really standard for House, i'd like to hear a little more click and boom in the kick drum, and a little more variation, to keep me interested
-seems a little empty... the part that starts @1:31 is great at first, but gets predictable, might want to do some different variations on that idea
-breakdown would need to build back into the drop a little more for my taste
-sounds a bit like what i hear coming from Abercrombie in the mall when i walk by.. not a bad thing, but kind of generic (no offense)

Overall:
/this.... is a downtempo House track. i have to be in the mood for this type of downtempo techno stuff... which thankfully i was, tonight. Anyway, i truly enjoyed it, but it wasnt particularly interesting or memorable, either.

Thanks a lot! I totally understand what your trying to say. this song is going through improvements as we speak. im going to try and find a nice ambient arpeggio to go behind the synth in the beginning. Ill probably post a new version soon.

The Vetox - "Don't Fuck With Me"

Props:
+oo, i love the intro drums. please tell me you made them yourself and its not a loop
+progressive and uneasy flow, definitely builds an air of suspense
+definitely one of the most unique drops i've heard all day
+well done on the offbeat accents, really pulls and pushes the song along
+this song has a lot going on in the drops, yet isnt messy. that's not an easy task.

Advice:
-kicks could be a little meatier on the bass end, i like the reverb tho
-drop gets a tad stale after awhile, would love to hear some variation in it
-hi hats? maybe some sort of nuance in the breakdown beats?
-the wubz in the drop seem just a little generic for my taste, but if you like it, stick with them
-pad sub bass is not very good sub bass.. i would throw a badman sine in there that follows the melody of the drop to really punch people in the club
-a relatively chilled track for the title
-the second drop would be harder hitting if it wasnt the same as the first but with hi-hats

Overall:
/cant say that i hated it. it was definitely worth listening to. you combined a few areas of sound into a palatable concoction.. your flow is well done, but i'd like to hear a little harsher drop (as the title would suggest)

This month is almost up, decided to share this tune on here, definitely need suggestions on the intro and break, how can I elaborate on it? Does the bass stay fit in the tune?

Cheers.

Yo, how have I not heard your stuff before?

This is sounding dark, for the start I would like more whooshyness, like some more drones and stuff just to fill it out. Sounding very nice though man.

Really liked this one once it got started. Introduction felt very timid and, very busta-rhymes esque drums, but the beat was amazing - shaker goodness was eargasm stuff - only thing I would say for the drums is have more extreme panning on the higher elements and open up the stereo image.

Loved the bass, nice and simple sound, but the rhythm was so itchy it really added a beautiful shuffle to the entire song.

Agree the background synth could do with a change in pattern to add more tension. But have to say liked this one alot :)

Great track apart from the snare which sounds tinny, maybe fiddle with the layering/eq.

weedcali: Like the track but feel like you could do with finding a more interesting pad sound and looking at the melody of it as well

Love it, I wouldn't add too much at the beginning maybe just some heavily reverbed atmospheres in the background.
mechs wrote:Soundcloud
This track is awsome but the clap does not fit with the rest of the feel of the tune, for starters it feels too loud and doesn't change, but I'd use a completely different snare sound completely, maybe something woodblocky?

I like the track, but I feel the intro and the rest could easily be two separate tunes... I think you should do a more mellow remix that emphasises on the samples in the intro

HAACK - "Untitled"

Props:
+First off, we're only half way through April!!! Still got two weeks in this bad boy..
+Also, this tune is bad ass. Sets the bar pretty high for the rest of the tunes, today.
+Really diggin the old grime vibe, sounds like what Pandora.com feeds you if you type in Distance or whatnot.
+Sample is clean and sinister, bass is spectacular

Advice:
-Mmk, so you have a more than solid blueprint on your hands. Really all this track needs is some nuance.
-Its about three minutes into the song, in the second drop before the bass switches up.. a classic octave jump at the end of a measure in the first riff, followed by a minor 2nd interval (or something similarly dark) will break the monotony a tad
-Depending on how chill you want the breakdown to be, i would add something that keeps the beat alive, or some more filtered ambience, to prepare everyone to groove again
-I think some strike breaks would go so well, you had a nice beat nuance @3:42, so a couple more of those would go well, as well as a subtle (or maybe even not so subtle) strike break (for those confused, its where the snare drives the end of a beat home at the end of a measure, usually in a staggered triplet form)
-some background effects along with the beat nuances will break the monotony that grime tracks usually produce. one the drums and bass are settled, the ears are hungry and searching for anything new that comes up... my favorite would have to be some distorted/timestretched reverb-y vocals.

Overall:
/Amazing :o

(The Big) LP - "Demersal"

Props:
+Intro ambience is tasty, love the subtle panning swish thing @0:14
+That distorted stretch into the drop is soooo goooood!
+First break took me by surprise and was definitely what i would have suggested had it been missing
+You put the hard yards into your beat, and it paid off.
+The sub bass is pounding in parts.

Advice:
-I'd HP filter some white noise and reverb/reverse cymbal to make the first drop stand out
-Really not too much i can suggest, the flow is great and you've put in plenty of surprises, so i must say well done, this is what i like to hear!
-The end drags a tad, but would be good for mixing
-Im not sure why, but i was expecting a vocal... thats just my brain being crazy tho.
-Sub bass is pounding in some areas and diminished in others... not sure if this is intentional or not but i love it when its pounding

Overall:
/Good flow, good ambience, plenty of nuances... can tell that you spent the proper amount of time on this, so well done.

@Knell & Jamez3: Very solid advice Will get on this! I knew something was missing and definitely stretching out some samples to get an atmosphere would be where I would take things.
