i think one of the things that could save dubstep from this is the fact that a good majority of the people making the music, i.e. the "idols" to these kids, are very well aware of these types of demographic analyses.
people like bassnectar make it a staple point to express the media's power.
as long as we, the artists, keep this knowledge in the forefront, our culture should remain untouched.
of course that's just hopeful thinking. we've got people like chase and status making tunes with rihannah.
