Re: Comics
Not a die hard fanboy, but i dabble. Mostly in the graphic novel region.
Anything from 2000AD is always pretty swell, the massive volumes of old Judge Dredd and Strontium Dog are all decent reads. ABC Warriors is pretty exciting.
My most read/recomended would have to be:
Preacher series
Madman
Deadpool
Tank Girl
Anything by Will Eisner
Anything by Joe Sacco
Alice in Sunderland
Sandman series
Anything by Warren Ellis/Alan Moore/Eddie Campbell/David Lloyd
Anything by Robert Crumb
American Splendor
Love and Rockets and anything from Fantagraphics
Anything by Moebius

Read Sandman and Transmetropolitan immediately. They're life-changers.
A few other favs:
Black Hole (fucked up, this one is)
V for Vendetta (sooo much better than the movie)
Y: The Last Man
Orbiter
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns (by far the best piece of Batman fiction ever)
Sin City

i have a big soft spot for marvel stuff - frank millers punisher max and the ultimates series. really liked the civil war concept they did with loadsa cross over asd multiple comics running parts of a larger storyline. although it was hard to keep track of it all.

Re: Comics
Been a Batman fan for a looooong time.
Re: Comics
I am a huge fan of Joe MAD's work like battle chasers and also Geof Darrow's hard boiled and ofc his art for the matrix. ALSO if you like manga/graphic novels hayao miyazaki's nausicaa of the Valley of the wind. SO AWESOME
Re: Comics
Yeah, I like comics.
Not buying many at the moment though.
Currently following anything to do with
Batman
Haunt
Hellblazer
Really like Warren Ellis as a writer overall. Think someone's mentioned something he wrote in this thread already.
buy all sorts of random crap though
I've got a Mr T comic somewhere believe it or not. One of the worst things I've ever fucking read but absolutely hilarious as a result.

I forgot about that. Fanastic series. Civil War is the reason I tell everyone that Tony Stark is an asshole.mikey g wrote: i have a big soft spot for marvel stuff - frank millers punisher max and the ultimates series. really liked the civil war concept they did with loadsa cross over asd multiple comics running parts of a larger storyline. although it was hard to keep track of it all.

Re: Comics
My favourites have been:
Preacher
Transmetropolitan
Books of Magic - especially the original series, one of the most beautiful graphic novels I've ever read
House of Secrets (late 90s version, not read originals before)
Anything featuring The Endless
Y: The Last Man
These days I still collect the X-Men stuff, but more out of habit than anything else. Been vaguely looking for something new like the above to sink my teeth into. Unfortunately, I have a backlog of several years worth of comics to get through.

Re: Comics
Only read a few and I enjoyed them but I much prefer a novel. I have read the Sandman Chronicles by Neil Gaiman, Maus, that one about the middle class Iranian family and some others that I can't remember the name of. There's also a comic about Lucifer that I quite fancy but never seem to get around to buying, mostly because I forget what it is called.
