19/4 Brighton, Aka Aka Roar - El B + Deadboy
EL-B is without doubt a pioneer of modern Dubstep, he originally made his name as part of the legendary GROOVE CHRONICLES outfit and was the first artist to bring a dark edge to UK Garage with tracks like ‘Stone Cold’ and ‘1999’ . Through his own Ghost Records imprint, he helped sculpt and define dubstep from its dark garage outings in the early 90's, and famously inspired the prodigious talent of BURIAL (SKREAM also later described him as one of his main influences) . EL-Bs signature style of hypnotic rhythms, deep bass and R&B/Grime vocals has set his music apart as a must-listen for anyone hoping to understand where dubstep came from (or to hear some bloody awesome tunes!). With Tempa re-issuing some of his old classics and a prominent feature on the 'Roots of Dubstep' release, EL is now working on a new EP to be released shortly.
As a DJ, EL-B is known for his cutting edge tune selection and party rocking skills. We at AKA ROAR have been huge fans for time and are personally very pleased to have him here!

Say what you want, the fact is that 2step or Garage is back with avengence and hitting the giddy heights it was always promised. Dont believe us? Check out South East London's DEADBOY for proof. DEADBOY has been producing garage influenced tracks for many years, incorporating elements of house, R n B, dancehall, techno, funky, grime, bassline, and many other influences. His debut EP 'U Cheated' came out on Well Rounded records at the end of 2009 and recieved a great response after being played by DJs such as Jackmaster, Oneman, Bok Bok, Joy Orbison, and many others, with Boomkat placing it at #26 in their end of year singles chart. Check the ruthless simplicity and effortless groove of ‘Brock Lee Riddim’, a boom click clack attack on our nerve endings and dancing feet. With chopped ‘n’ screwed sampled raps, plunging, technoid synths, and bubbling, bobbing bass, this is a feast for the ear canals and speaker-stacks, and that Detroit keyboard groove ain’t hurting, either.

Donga is label boss of Brighton based Well Rounded Records the vinyl & digital label is fast accumulating fans based on a sound that fuses elements of Garage, UKFunky and Broken Beat but with House as it's heart and foundation. The debut release by Deadboy 'U Cheated' was a certified bomb and follow up 'Heavy Roll' by Donga's Ultrasound project found favour with djs as diverse as Martyn, TRG, Rob Louis and Roska. Forthcoming releases by Hackman, Deadboy, Donga & Blake, C.R.S.T. and Skinnz will further up the ante. Donga's DJing reflects the labels' linked eclecticism, happy to reach back for classics and obscure gems but mixing these up with current tunes pointing the way toward the future.
