Maybe not "tearout" but always been hard, more agressive dancefloor tunes in the scene. Its part of it.

^ this was my intro into the scene. Trying to go back to my own interpretation of breakstep lately myself. I didn't mention any of these guys though as I didn't think it was what the OP was on about. When you talk Cookie Monster I am thinking over the top wobble, the above are far from that. When I think about it Sponge Bob had to be responsible for a lot of that. I remember hearing it the first time like WTF? And rewound it a couple times but the 1,000's of tunes that followed it were pretty meh imo.

I hear ya, I guess im talking tearout in the literal sense, i think people are mixing jump-up, tear-out and clown-step, but far be it for me to explain the concept . I guess i thought i would mention these guys cos i know alot of the people who will end up posting in this thread may not fully know the producers despite their impact on this scene so i thought i would try my hand at "suggested education"

I love Coki too much to call his music 'tearout' or 'dudestep.' Despite it's brilliance it's certainly a precursor to a lot of the shit that's happened though.

Sorry to bring my opinion into this.

Cockney Thug oviously wasn't the first heavy tearout tune, but it was the first one that I can remember really dividing people...

This is a really interesting answer... I'm personally more curious to know what tunes really started the pushback against 'brostep' or any of the nastier stuff; what tunes had people going "ok this is just ridiculous" ?

i would love for someone to explain the differences in mid frequency bass music, tbh, i call it all clownstep just cause it's an easy umbrella term

tbh every other 'tearout' tune is shallow, weak and boring compared to their stuff, obviously with a few exceptions.
i wouldn't even put them in the same boat tbh .

i beg to differ, i think the terms should speak for themselves and from what i gather, your saying that basically tunes should judged on their frequency values rather than the style or mood they create, it may be easy to do but you shouldn't tar everything with the same brush.

Not what Im saying at all... I'm saying I don't understand the diff between tearout and clownstep, since neither of those terms are words I would use to describe music. I love vex'd, but IMHO, I wouldn't classify them as tearout; but as I stated, it could be because I don't fully grasp the meaning of or the nessessity of the word tearout...
