Re: a question of patience..
I find myself quiet in these discussions because i stopped asking the question a long time ago. I make music; it's what I do. Some folks are social workers, some are bankers. I'm a drummer and a producer. We all have our places in the world that make this whole thing work.
now, with that--if you make art, you have a whole other set of issues to deal with. If this is what you do for fun, then please-- just have fun with it. I'd even suggest not worrying about the endless issues that pop up here (ie, wobbles, yaw yaw bass sounds, how did datsik and excision mow the lawn of their shared summer house by using transformer sounds) and just go for it.
if this is what you DO, if you pay the bills making music or aspire to do so... know this:
separate your art from your work. in a way it's extremely helpful-- you know all your tools and scales and you use them for work. when it's time to get arty-- fuck it. make what your soul wants you to make. because, otherwise...
there are days where you HAVE to be creative and the juices aren't flowing, and you GO TO WORK.
there are days where you're feeling mad creative, but you're working for someone else who wants some milquetoast output and you, yes, GO TO WORK.
but otherwise-- if yr gonna do this, you don't have a choice in the matter-- it's already been decided for you. so get crackin

Due to a forthcoming deal with John Deer, we can't divulge this information. sorry.Sharmaji wrote: I'd even suggest not worrying about the endless issues that pop up here (ie, wobbles, yaw yaw bass sounds, how did datsik and excision mow the lawn of their shared summer house by using transformer sounds) and just go for it.

I was going to formulate a long winded reply to this thread.
But this sums it up perfectly.

Big up nowaysj. Wise words.nowaysj wrote:I don't believe that there are true rewards in life. The bare horrible truth is that everything just is what it is. Those of us who produce music do so because that is what we are. It is our nature to do so.

Re: a question of patience..
I remember I'd see people from the past and they'd always ask...
"you still making music?"
I'd kinda snicker...
I know no other way.
If you take that away, I'd be empty

Re: a question of patience..
Deep conversations going on here. Like the poster above said, right now if you too music away from me I'd be lost. I'm so glad I discovered it, it's made my "gap year" so much more better.

But if you could choose to change your nature, to have a different nature, would you choose it?
I wish to god I had a profitable passion.
