This. Malstrom, the RV3000, and the Scream distortion unit are all fucking incredible. I don't find the EQs to be that bad, and as people have said ears > spectral analyser. If you constantly use one you'll never train your ears up to properly divide all the frequencies, which is extremely important.cloak and dagger wrote:I switched from Reason to Cubase about half a year ago and STILL haven't found a tape distortion /saturation plugin that comes anywhere near Reason's...anybody know a good one?
Also the advanced reverb unit is probably the best reverb I've ever used.
That said, I'm making the move from Reason to Ableton, just for liveness. One look at the APC40 (which I can't afford yet), combined with that gave me a super boner. And as people have always said - you can always ReWire.
Reason is basically just a - you get what you see - program. There's not a lot of hidden gizmos or anything, it's just a rack, basically. If you work in a visual, straight-forward way Reason might be for you. If you work in a more inductive fashion, go for something else.

Re: Reason is shit
i like reason for what it is.
you can make quality tunes in it no question. it's just that other programs have more features.
but i still prefer reason to a lot of hosts just because i like it. different race horses for different race courses...

Re: Reason is shit
Haha this thread made me cringe
So what your trying to say is because you been using Reason for 2 years,so your expected to makes songs like mix master mike
Reason is not shit, its shit as you cant make what you want on it. As DZA said Reason is only as shit as the person using it.
Sure Reason has a number of flaws, so does every other DAW out there. Whats makes you a efficient producer is when you can work around these problems, then thats when you can use Reason properly, or any ther DAW in fact.
Get a fucking grip mate.

Well said man.nitz wrote:Sure Reason has a number of flaws, so does every other DAW out there. Whats makes you a efficient producer is when you can work around these problems, then thats when you can use Reason properly, or any ther DAW in fact.

A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself. What a man can be, he must be.

Re: Reason is shit
I love reason. I think it's best used in conjunction with something else though. I use it with FL studio 9 and I think I get pretty good results.

Re: Reason is shit
anyone heard of loki? aka loki1200 on youtube? he's a fucking beast and he uses reason 4.0. his song "smash and grab" was the last song in the 1st breed12inches demolition room mix. vaski uses fruity loops. honestly, it's more about what you do rather than what you do it with.DZA wrote:Reason is only as shit as the person using it
