I just don't get the hate.
Hasn't Timbaland influenced a lot of UK producers- including some of those who make dubstep?
Musicians and producers are influenced musically and sample or copy other pieces for their work all the time. Sometimes its brilliant sometimes it's not. Nothing occurs in a vacuum- however it would be extremely laborious to list all of your inspirations on every track you put out. So on ONE track he samples the work of another artist and makes a pop hit out of it- that the person who originally made the song prob couldn't have done himself. I would ask to be compensated for this but i wouldn't go on to say Timbaland sucks cuz of this one instance of biting.
Damn man just get a lawyer get your money and move on.
The fact is that Timbaland has the uncanny ability to make catchy pop hits using cutting edge sounds, samples and rhythms and he has been doing it for years. That is a valuable and enjoyable talent- imo regardless of whether you think he is just a biter or not.

Then - if that's the case maybe he's a bit of a fibber. But I reckon we might be able to say that he influenced UKG - I ain't an expert or nothing like that though. Just all that "electronic" beats stuff - wonder if that "anticipated" part of the London sound? Ideas have always bounced back and forth across the pond.
PS - never could understand all the God stuff on American hip hop rnb. Like I'm a pimp, a hustler, crack dealer who smacks me bitch but I still give props to God (not suggesting Timbers but you know what I mean).
Very strange notion of God.

I've read quite a few interviews w/ Timbaland, and the general impression I get is that he has quite the ego about what he does. Probably such an ego that he'd be loathe to acknowledge his influences if only for the fact that it takes the attention off of himself.
Yeah it sucks..and I certainly wish he'd be less of a dick about it, but he's still one of the sickest producers to ever come out of hip-hop. And whether he wants to acknowledge his influences or not...there isn't anything that will change that fact.
Also...i don't hear much dubstep-like about the clip.

Yes ideas have always bounced back and forth between humans.numaestro wrote:Then - if that's the case maybe he's a bit of a fibber. as to the fibber thought.
I have no idea of he is a fibber. I think if asked he would reveal his influences. I think as a creative person he leaves the sample worries up to his lawyers and he just works on the next production. I also have no idea why God was brought up here but since you asked... LOL
Here is my answer--
Perhaps God loves us all? and if a person sins a lot maybe they need God more than a person who doesn't? Also, isn't possible to do both good and bad things and to still believe in God? Maybe they are covering their asses and saying what's up God?
I don't know really though because American culture is an amalgamation of so many influences and cultures and beliefs i could write you a 40,000 word essay on it still not properly outline everything for you.

ez - I was answering Parson - the thread sort of changed the line of conversation.
I have never seen Timbers on TV or talking about this stuff to be honest. Think he's made some good music - that's all I know.
America is a profoundly religious country cos of its history and stuff - no?
Like I say it sometimes seems a bit hypocritical that "badmen" wack on about God - but given the state of the world not gonna lose sleep about it - seems bit of a piss take that's all
Btw - has timbers done rock production?
