If you're talking about those quick chord stabs there was a thread a while ago about how to get them, wasn't too long ago either, so it should be easy enough to find. If it's a real sound then it's probably a guitarist playing a chord and quickly muting the strings after he plays it. Just get some guitar samples.

usually organs on the upbeat, 3 or 4 note chords ;)

play with minor chords if you're going for a darker sound :t:

Recipe:

1x Organ synth
1x Chorus effect

Optional: 1x Phaser, but not much

a snuff of Reverb
a snuff of Delay

Lovely raggae sounds.

A and F chords are pretty popular for reggae

And if it could help you, it's called "skank".

A chord is a chord. Doesnt matter if it's A or F or C# or whatever

Yea, I don't think it's a guitar at all. I usually just load up an organ sound of some sort, cut the lows and add chorus, reverb, and a pinch of delay or more depending on the sound I want. it helps to learn how to make them cause usually the samples get played to death.

Your both close... Its an organ with the same general envelope shape as a guitar skank with a quick lil mute after it.

Open 3xOsc, use the default organ setting it starts with, but turn that sine wave to a saw/tri or something like that, go to the envelope tab, turn the attack damn near off n fuck with the decay n release...

Chords, through a tube/amp emulator out to a nice dubby delay (the shortening of the delay time to the point it phases a bit helps add that ringy sound so many mistake as phaser or flange)

Reverb.

Done.

chopping or chipping as well

you wont get this to sound authentic without a lot of practice and love for reggae. Sampling would probably be your best bet, get on spotify or something to find tunes

it can be guitar, piano, organ, or even horns...i have heard all be used.... just put it on the half beat with 1/16 notes with a fast release

the reverb and little bit of delay add a lot of character to it though!

Funny how they used to be able to do this without a shit ton of different layers and effects. How did they do it acoustically?
